Seriously, starting a thread like this is always a bad idea. One can only presume the motivation is from a negative attitude towards homosexuality. Thus the results of the posts/replies.

I didn't know Bill was gay until this thread, and don't consider that relevant information anyway. I've found him to be a thoughtful, friendly, and sincere poster who I've regarded as one of "the good guys."

There is a real issue with homosexuality in this country, and the entire world. That issue is the mocking, the fear, the hatred, the ostracization, and the daily terror gays have to live with (I am making an assumption this is so).

I have been homophobic in my life, and it isn't easy getting past the revulsion when considering the sexual aspects, which is really the root cause of the negativity directed towards gays.

And then I finally understood what this really means: "A gay person doesn't choose to be gay."

The rest of us aren't helping any by treating gays any different than anyone else we know. And that not only means having a blatant and callous attitude, it means feeling uncomfortable in the presence of a gay person.

We have to move past this antagonism, and gays have their own issues in that regards, and start understanding that humanity is best defined as a stew with many ingredients, and not as a broth.

We're all different from each other in many ways, and it is those differences that make life interesting and worth living.

Kaeos, you can be correct at times when the back and forth going EACH way between some groups of people. There is no right way around it, only friends against each other or in this case, older posters against newer posters.

I know this puts me in a sorta tight place because the person's whose lifestyle is getting attacked here is MY friend. I think the jokes there is in poor taste, whether they come from Jakester or from Jayce. That's always been my belief though to some people a joke is a joke which is a joke, be it in poor taste in my mind or not. I'm not the judge of jokes, I'm the judge of the TOS for these boards and speak for the people who run the site and pay for the bills.

As such, I will respond to you quoting TOS and how that is somehow hypocritical.

There is a pretty clear rule on posting towards race, gender, lifestyle, culture, ethnicity, etc in terms of either bigotry or harrasment.

Yes, a joke is a joke, even in poor taste but if the posting style from a certain user continues down a road towards something OTHER then occasional jokes and leans more towards racism or bigotry, I'm sorry if it's a older poster(like American) or a new poster(whoever), the moderators will ask that person to knock it the hell off and then Jedi Howie will come in and hit the ultimate button if the person doesn't stop.

That's all that needs to be said.

EVERYONE involved needs to understand that attacking a attacker(especially hate mongerers and bigots) isn't going to help on a messageboard. People get off on causing shit online because like Bill says, it's not like the person is front of said person and anything can be done about it.

Last and final, if the shit continues and anything bigotry or harrassing continues towards ANYONE, bans will occur. Over that particular rule of the TOS, there is no negotiation.
