Questions about Avatar

I thought a good thread for here would be for us to share how to do stuff in here. Though most of it seems self-explanatory, and sooner or later,
we'll learn what we need to know,
it'd be a good place to start asking questions for anyone curious about
the new digs here, which in Jakester's words, are quite shibby.

And of course, selfish me, I have a question:

Where do you go to apply an avatar to show up in your posts?
I'm not seeing where I can put mine in. :confused:

Traz, that issue was just brought to my attention by Jakester.

I had to set the Custom Avatar parameters.

I just figured it out.
But what sucks is that it has to be EXACTLY 80 by 80 pixels.
But some slight trimming didn't hurt it much. :rolleyes:

Can you make it larger? Like say, 120 by 120, at least?

I can but the farthest I will go is 100 by 100.

Here's an issue though on this whole Uploading Avatar process. As you all know on the old UBB threads version, you were asked to find a suitable place to link your picture from. Well, as far as I can see ....to get Avatars in your Users CP under the Custom option, the Upload function is there as well. That is an issue which may need to be determined.

As you all know, the size of so much pictures being uploaded in such a community could cause stress or serious LAG for our server. Not real sure if that's a wise move.

If you can, please continue linking to your own url for you picture. I will look into the whole Uploading Avatars issue and what it may or may not cause.

How come everything looks different now? I kind of liked the avatars being above the posts.

Dude, avatars need to be bigger. It was really frigging difficult to get the one I have, and it kinda sux0rz.
