WOW.

I'm a long time Whovian, first meeting the character and joining him on his adventures while watching on PBS, with Tom Baker's incarnation, which is how most Americans met him back then. It's a long, convoluted story, which is as deeply ingrained in British culture over generations as Star Trek is on American culture.

When the show went on hiatus, I always knew it would reappear at some point. I enjoyed the joint American/BBC film with Paul McGann, and thought he made a great Doctor, and was sad to see that stillborn. Would love to know more of the backstory, such as why were the Daleks trying The Master, and why was the Doctor asked to transport his remains back to Gallifrey?

Anyway, the mythos have been kept alive in alternate media (kinda like Trek now). And finally, it has taken it's place again on TV. And I'm amazed.

Possibly the single greatest accomplishment is informing the viewer of the background elements they need to know without overwhelming them. Mr. E is an EXCELLENT Doctor, and Billie Piper is charming as heck.

Old touchstones in the Who universe are introduced, as are brand new mysteries.

New journeys. I look forward to the trip.

tstone, we have recently finished the second series here in the UK. All I can say is that both series one and two were absolutely brilliant. I was a bit worried when it was announced they were bringing the Doctor back to TV, but any worries that I had very quickly disappeared. There is going to be a spin-off with one of the characters on the programme, so hopefully that will be just as good and eventually you may get to see that aswell.

I missed most of it on Sci-Fi, so I downloaded series 1 from the torrents. I'd never been a big Whovian (too much cheese, maybe, I don't really know), but I was impressed. Very impressed. Looking forward to catching Series 2 at the end of September!

Yeah, Torchwood, with Captain Jack. He's a good character, so I'll give that a gander.

I've read a few spoilers for season two, so I'm pretty stoked for it.
