Okay. So much for Q introducing Bond the the new Aston Martin DB5 in GF.
New Corgi Aston Martin (http://commanderbond.net/quicknews/index.php?action=item&item=28511)
"The new DBS won’t be the only car to feature in the movie, with producers confirming that DB5, first seen in Goldfinger and then Thunderball will be back after Bond wins it in a poker game – although minus all the gadgetry. "

Well, it's hardly revisionist history. The point is, no history. I still think it's stupid.

Stupid?
Yes. Perfect word for it.
Somehow, Bond never seemed the sort of character to take his winnings away from the table in such a fashion.
Sure, he cashes his chips but it always seems that his winnings are all part of the 'sport". One imagines his winnings being used to enhance the flavor of the evening with an extravagant dinner, the finest in drink and maybe holding some for the next round. I can't picture him saying "Check this cooool car out that I won!"
I dunno. "Winning" the DB5 at poker(?!) doesn't sound very Bond at all. More Matt Helm or Danny Ocean.
BTW - anybody catch the wonderful new Wells Fargo TV commercial in which a divorced wife is trying to pawn her ex's Aston Martin DB5 off on some poor bystander for only $20? I love it!!!

Actually, in the novels Bond makes a very modest salary, and uses his gambling winnings to live the high life we know and love. So I guess it has a certain justification. But.

His acquisition of the DB5 as his personal car was covered in Gardner's novelisation of GoldenEye I believe wasn't it ?
