I am so glad for BBC America this summer. Not only are we getting some fun Shakespeare retellings, but this new series "Life on Mars" is very cool. It's a cop show set in Manchester in 1973, but the twist is that the main character comes from present-day Britain. Is Sam in a coma after an accident, or has he really traveled in time? That question is left open, but it's interesting watching him deal with the different policing styles and expectations of 1973. Plus, the soundtrack for the show is kick-ass.

They're replaying the first four episodes this Sunday afternoon, if you want to catch up on the series. I'm enjoying it a lot.

Yes, this show is cool. I've seen the first 3 episodes, and ep's. 4 & 5 are available on the On-Demand channels. I haven't watched them yet, though.

I'm bumping this because BBC America replied to my query to inform me that yes, they will be airing season 2 of "Life on Mars" sometime in the future. I thought it would be during the summer, but they haven't scheduled it yet.

They did tell me it would air as part of "Supernatural Saturdays," so maybe when one of the current series airing now (like "Hex") is done, they'll put it up. I'll post more when I know it. This is a very cool show--so of course a US tv network (I think ABC) is developing a version to air here in the States.

I'm pleased folks States-side are having a chance to see this, I thought it was one of the best things the BBC had done for years!

Aaah, it was all so simple back in the 70s. Women directed traffic and looked after lost kids, and the men had bottles of whisky in their desk drawer and beat up suspects when evidence was in short supply. The crime figures were lower, too :D

BeebA is frustrating, though. They edit the show to fit in commercials and remove some of the language and boobs.

I made the mistake of checking the wikipedia page and saw some of what happens in S2. Not sure I like it. S1 was pretty good, though.

Well, I almost missed the start of Season 2, but it started airing Dec. 11. From the website, it looks like there are only 8 episodes (the last airs next week) and this is the last season. They promise we will learn why Sam is back in 1973, so I'm glad to know that.

Unfortunately, my TIVO lost power while I was on vacation and I totally missed out on episode 5. I wish they'd re-air the whole thing, but they're only re-airing episodes 6, 7, and 8 on January 27 beginning at 3 pm. That's good if you want to catch the ending, I guess, but I'll probably end up getting the DVD some time.

S2 underwhelmed me. In fact, I don't think I finished it. I just sort of stopped caring and never went back to it. I really enjoyed S1, though.
