No probs, rapps. Hell, thank you for picking my Chiefs there....That was a tough pill, there, pickinng my arch enemy to win but Green is out for the next two weeks and their in Denver. Still, you definitely score points in my book for picking em. :D

Still not sure what kind of a prize I can give to the person who has the most right picks at the end of the season but got some time to figure that one out.

That's putting to much thought into it. Just go with your first instinct who would win.

That's the worst way to do it because you'll always be beaten by some noob who picks based on whose mascot would kick the most ass in a fight.

When I was in Cinncy about a month ago I caught a Reds game, it was the Saturday Fox game vs the Braves, they looked like a good team. And what a ballpark. After the next series with St Louis is when it all came undone. I was wanting Cinncy to make the World series so the could play the Yankees and I could ride up to catch a game, but some one didn't hold up their end of the bargain.

I'm iffy on my picks this week. Jacksonville has a great defense and questionable offense. Still, can Jacksonville's secondary pick off Payton like they did Big Ben?

Who to pick...Green Bay or Detroit??? Sheeesh

Washington(with Brunell's problems?) or Houston(suckers)?

Miami or Tennessee??? Will Vince Young start instead of Kerry Colins?

The Steelers lose twice in a row and at home???

Dammmmmmmn, here goes a bad week of picks for me..

DarkJedi
09-26-2006, 12:14 AM
Forgot to type that earlier TSH. Yes, for anyone who misses any weeks at a time or starts late, there will be two seperate set of "Know it Alls" ...One with the best winning percentage and one with the most winning picks total.

Btw, what with life always taking away from this internet thingy, TSH, its more then likely people who start off last week will catch some of us because some of us might miss weeks in the season as well. Like Stephen did for this last week. We all may miss a week or two when we're away doing other things so winning percentage will be a factor also.

Actually, looking at the picks for this past week, it looks like everyone but Negs and I picked Baltimore.

Yes, but the tiebreaker is using proper grammar to gloat, so I win! It should be "everyone but Negs and me picked Baltimore," since "me" is after the preposition "but" and "everyone" is the subject of "picked Baltimore." If you'd phrased it "everyone picked Baltimore but Negs and me," you probably wouldn't have made the mistake.

Good job on picking Denver, though. I thought they'd be tough at home and the Ravens had to lose sometime.

Hey, I figured they had to win some time, and playing at home against Buffalo gave them a good shot. When their offense is on track and not making dumb penalties/turnovers, they've been fairly competitive.

It was a good weekend to be a fan of Michigan sports. (Unless you're a Spartan fan, in which case you deserve it. :p)

ps: The strategy to picking Lions games: if it's not a horrible mismatch (like Chicago in week 2), then go against your first instinct. Last week I really thought they'd make the breakthrough and they lost. This week I thought they might do it but probably wouldn't, so they won.

Rest In Peace, Lamar Hunt. You were a great owner of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Dallas franchise before the Cowboys came to big D. You coined the term "Superbowl" and you impacted the NFL as a whole(bringing together the two leagues to create the NFL) for so many people. You were a great owner, deserves being mentioned twice. You will be missed.

Well, shee-it. At least most of you picked the 9ers to beat Arizona. If you pick Arizona and are basing it on their meeting earlier this season, be warned that the 9ers now have their offensive ducks in a row.

I will personally perform unaenesthitized root canals on John York if he tries to ship off the best players he has now to keep a lower bottom line. This is not the best offense in the history of football but this offense is keeping the 9ers in the playoff hunt. Some skilled draft picks and off-season moves to shore up the offensive line and the defensive middle have the potential to make them a regular playoff competitor again. Could Nolan be the new Bill Walsh (who coached the 49ers to 2-14 his first season)?

I watch the Niners every week since we have the ticket and my brother in law bleeds Niner gold since he was a kid so we've had years to endure since Young went down off a sack that ended his career years ago. This year, it feels great to say "The Niners actually have a QUARTERBACK!!"...Finally..after all these years, they have a QB. Alex Smith rocks and my favorite niners continue to be Walt Harris & Battle(he catches everything...totally underrated).

I gotta admit Smith has really pulled it together this season. I can't say that I ever saw him rising above Vinny Testaverde levels but there's been the glimmer of a great QB this season hampered by a middling offensive line. He's got reliable, even formidable, receivers and a complimentary RB in Frank Gore. If the Niners can give him more time to sit back in the pocket with a better line next year, I could see their offense jumping up to at least Top 15, maybe Top 10.

Your foot wasn't in your mouth there. The Niners record may be that way but alot of games they played which they lost came on in momentum changing referree calls. I'm not making excuses for them, they lost them...but the team played as a whole so much more better than the expectations that were given. They played like a team on the verge of that higher calliber team this year.

A young team can't overcome the mistakes they make.

A playoff calliber team can overcome those mistakes and play through them.

I'd say the Niners are on their way of learning from the mistakes this season during certain games and next year, they may just be in the playoffs because they will be able to overcome them by learning from them this year.

LOL Speaking of which, I need alot of help this weekend for my Chiefs to make the playoffs.

I need the Steelers to beat the Bengals, the Patriots to beat the Titans, the Niners to beat Denver....while of course the Chiefs win their game.

Bengals loss + Titans loss + Broncos loss+ Chiefs win=Playoff Chiefs.

In other words, a New Years miracle.

sickness
12-28-2006, 05:28 PM
Well, considering I pretty much predicted a Niner win, I'd say that's a foot-in-mouth kind of result.

As for the potential they've showed this season, I couldn't agree more. They are definitely showing that they can learn from their mistakes, a quality this team hasn't had for at least 4 or 5 years.

BUT they need to be able to sweep the Arizona of this year before they can be considered a playoff team, let alone a competitive playoff team.

And Arizona ain't gonna be gettin' any worse anytime soon. The NFC West has the potential to be a power division in 2 or 3 more years.

Bah, some of us are working today Kah :)

If my calculations are correct this is how last week worked out:
Rap 10-6
Kah 12-4
Neg 8-8
SoG 12-4
Omi 8-8
Still Crazy 9-7
ODJ 11-5

Standings after Week 16
Rap 140 out of 225 (62.222%)
Kah 112 out of 195 (57.436%)
Neg 138 out of 225 (61.333%)
SoG 121 out of 209 (57.895%)
Omi 139 out of 225 (61.778%)
ODJ 120 out of 190 (63.158%)

ODJ takes the lead with an 11-5 week. Still a tight race, though. :)

I think there's going to be different category of winners after the last game(we can include playoff picks as well).

Total winners and percentage winners. If we're going by total winners(people who didn't miss anything and picked every game)..the standings would be:

1. Rapps
2. You(omi)
3. Negs
4. Sog(though with less picks then you top 3).

We're also going to see if we can pick out the playoffs and the superbowl winners week by week vs before the playoffs begin. People are free to change their overall playoff racket as the playoff games come closer.

Whoopsie, forgot to do my early picks ... and I would've picked the Giants over Washington, too. Bummer. At least I got Tiki in Fantasy Football!

Sunday, Dec. 31
Carolina at New Orleans
Cleveland at Houston
Detroit at Dallas (but don't be surprised if the Lions win to lose the #1 pick)
Jacksonville at Kansas City
New England at Tennessee
Oakland at N.Y. Jets
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati
Seattle at Tampa Bay
St. Louis at Minnesota
Arizona at San Diego
Atlanta at Philadelphia
Buffalo at Baltimore
Miami at Indianapolis
San Francisco at Denver
Green Bay at Chicago

Bengals loss + Titans loss + Broncos loss+ Chiefs win=Playoff Chiefs.

In other words, a New Years miracle.

The New Years miracle did happen...

Bengals lost...Titans lost....Broncos lost...Chiefs won...

Now, for another miracle.

Next week in the playoffs, Chiefs vs Colts. Saturday. Will Adam's team win or will mine.............................Either way, good luck to the winner.

Sorry everyone. I was out with no access to computers. You know how the country folk are.

I will get everything caught up after the games this week.
