The movies may be over, but that doesn't mean we can't talk about them. Plus rumor has it there are some books or something as well. ;)

So welcome to new people...welcome to old people...and welcome to...um...everyone else as well. If you have an idea for a discussion, by all means start one. This is a place to kick back and have fun, our own internet Shire if you will. :D

So in the spirit of a new start, how about we (re)introduce ourselves.

I've been rather busy the last couple months for various reasons. I've had work of course, making an animated film does tend to keep you busy. The holidays also made things a little hectic for a while.

However, there is one big thing that has been taking up quite a bit of my time. I got engaged at the end of November, and the wedding is at the end of March. It is going to be simple, but there's still way too many things to get done by then. Call me crazy, or call me sane...all I know is that I'm really excited and I can't wait until March! :D

If your new here, share something about yourself (if you'd like), and if you are an old hobbit visiting with old friends, let us know what's been going on.

It's great to have the forum back. :D

It is great to have everything up and running again. I've really only been a lurker here since the old CA forums shut down, but I still like to post from time to time! And nice to see a familiar "face" in Strider - I don't think I remember any other posters by name anymore, since I stopped being a regular. Anyway, it's nice to be back.

Well, I'm back, like Sam says in the end of the story. :D Hope that most of the old gang will find their way here as well.

Congratulations for your engagement, Strider! :jumpie2:

As for me, life is very much the same old. The last couple of months just have been chaotic at times because of a total change of organization at my job.

Which reminds me that, I should actually be working... :eyes:

Our little Strider is all grown up and getting married! Sniff, sniff. :-)

In case you'd like to see pictures of Lorien's Shire mural, check out:

The mural is really lovely! :)

And, little Lorien is extremely cute! (We definitely need a "love" smiley here!)

You should use the "hugs" smiley: :hugs:

Her adorable factor IS quite high, isn't it? :-)

Has anyone else listened to the Complete Fellowship CD? It's really fantastic!

Rowanberry

I've also got the complete Fellowship soundtrack; it definitely is great.

BTW, I guess we can put all speculation for a possible future Hobbit movie here for now?

As I've mentioned before, I got the Complete Recordings soudtrack, and my favorite song is Flaming Red Hair. What can I say? Hobbit party music is fun and addicting. :jumpie:

My favorite track is definitely A Elbereth, Githoniel (The Passing of The Elves). It almost sounds like a Bulgarian women's choir. I read every word of the booklet that accompanied it, too!

Yo Strider - I tried to import my old Avatar, and got the message that it was too big. Is there a new size requirement? Much love, dude.

Strider
02-03-2006, 11:54 AM
I got that when I tried to put mine in, although it told me what the max size was. I believe the maximum size for an avatar is 80x80 pixels...yep...I checked mine, and it is 80x80.

Alaris, check also that the file size of your picture is less than 19.5 kb, that's another limit on this site.

If uploading it to the site doesn't work, you can also host it yourself and link to it, like on the old boards; that's what I do at the moment.

alaristhered
02-06-2006, 10:52 AM
Yup, I was hosting it at my husband's website, and sure enough, the file is too big, so we're going to have to do some futzing (highly technical term) and try again.

Hello All!

I see things done changed. So I changed my username from hostile17 to Belledame. Same signature, though I can't see it displayed yet. Might change that too. Gosh, I've had hostile17 since the Fandom days...

Anyway, good to see y'all.

It's going to take a LOT for me not to call you Hostile. Welcome, Belledame! Lorien is in her baby carrier right now and says Mae govannen.

Belledame

alaris, you can still call me hostile. I'll know who you're talkin' to.

Heh. Sounds fair enough. Nowadays, if someone calls me anything but "Momma" I get confused. :-)

Yesterday I held Lorien in front of her mural and told her how Bilbo Baggins lives there.

Wasn't sure where else to post this. If you can get ahold of one, check out French and Saunders on DVD (there's 6 in all, they're like 15 bucks at Barnes and Noble). They're a female comedy duo from Britain (Jennifer Saunders of Absolutely Fabulous and the voice of the Fairy Godmother in Shrek 2, and Dawn French, the Fat Lady in the Painting in Harry Potter and the CoS and the voice of Mrs. Beaver in Narnia) and they do some of the best movie parodies I've ever seen.

On the DVD French and Saunders: Living in a Material World, there's an extra special where they parody LOTR, interspersed with other sketches, but the LOTR one is friggin hilarious (ants used for the big battle scenes, trouble with size perspective, etc.)! Check it out!

The Lord of the Rings forum seems a little quite or is it just the holiday season.

It's definitely much slower in here than it was during the three year theatrical run. Speaking for myself, I've been EXTREMELY busy recently, so I haven't been posting very much.

I'd like to extend my welcome to you as well. The activity has slowed down in here, but we're still just as friendly as ever. :D

Did anyone see Family Guy two weeks ago? Very funny LOTR: FOTR moment. Quagmire falls in love at first sight, and in his mind he's Aragorn and she's Arwen and they're in Rivendell.

Okay, what's up with Family Guy and LOTR references? Last week's featured a very silly bit from ROTK where Sauron loses his contact lens. No kidding.

Hi new here Like the books very much. Madly in love with the movies, the music the way they look. Can't get enough. I have the extended edition, but they need to be longer. (I think oh maybe like 40 hours).

You said it! Did anyone see the - yes, again- Family Guy LOTR reference? This time Creepy Old Neighbor turned into Gandalf battling a neighborhood tree, who was the Balrog. It was so funny!

Suilad!

Another newbie on board. I found this forum while searching for info. on The Two Towers Complete Recordings. Just want to quickly mention that as well as the movies, I'm a huge fan of the books, but only got round to reading them just before the movies came out. If pushed to choose, it would be the books every time. However, I think Peter Jackson has given us the best book-to-screen adaptation ever. As for the soundtracks....?

I bought a surround sound home cinema system for Christmas last year simply because FOTR Complete Recordings was available. Best investment ever (both of them!) :D

Confused. My avatar is still not showing up, despite the size change. Anyone have any advice? Thanks!

Rowanberry
06-07-2006, 10:39 PM
Hard to say why, not knowing about the site where the picture is hosted, and if you've done everything correct to put it up. Maybe you should post about this on the Cinescape Online Help forum and ask ODJ for advice?

Will first harass Husband to see what the heck is going on. I may have inadvertently screwed things up.

Welcome to the boards JackBurton!

I loved Big Trouble in Little China. One of my first fantasy/action films.

Can you believe - I've never seen it? I'll have to rent it when I get the time. Which means when Lorien is 6. :-)

Wow, I leave for a year or two and everythig changes! Good to see there are still a few people I still recognize here...I missed the forum. Life has this tendency to get way too busy, unfortunately. Good to see you all.

And howdy Burton....welcome

Arwen! :) Welcome back! :hugs: We wondered where you had disappeared...

Yes, some of us LOTR forum oldbies are still around, but unfortunately, many have gone missing. :(

Strider

Yeah there were definitely a few more of us hanging around a while ago, but a lot of people seemed to slowly disappear as the activity in here dwindled. It was to be expected I guess.
