For some reason, I can't seem to log on to the Cinescape.com main site to post comments under stories any more...wha' hoppen?

It seems that a bunch of accounts got deleted. I had to re-join (at least able to use my same name), but you can't log in with capital characters in your name, has to be all lowercase. :ohwell:

I think ALL accounts got deleted. Mine did. The admin log in still works at least but for me to post, I had to get a new one in registrations on the main one too.

I can log in to this forum ok, but not the general site. I get this:
http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o240/twentythreestaff/graham/login-error.jpg
I've blanked out the email with x's because, although it's not the one I've nominated in my User CP on this forum, it is one that I sometimes use.
I tried pasting the code into my address bar, and I get the Mania page saying a confirmatory email has been sent - but it hasn't arrived. Odd, eh?

Sounds like you registered before our userdatabase converged last Thursday so it may be here at these boards but it's still in limbo land on the main site itself. Try sending another confirmation to your email and if it still doesn't take, I will see what I can get done on it.

No, the emails aren't getting through when I copy-and-paste from that red text.
http://www.mania.com/validate_email.php?email= {email} seems to work; anyway, it says that a validation email's been sent, but I haven't received any of them.
Incidently, that red text looks odd, the way the HTML tags show up, as if HTML has been put into a line of javascript. At any rate, I can't see anything wrong with it, judged purely as HTML.

I've been trying to get some help for my account on the main site for several days now. Even the e-mail link for the webmaster doesn't work. Here's what I sent;
Dear Sir or Ma'am,
First things first... If you don't have anything to do with the automated registration for this site, please forward this e-mail to someone who does.
Don't worry I'll wait... dum tee dum doddle dee...
Finished?
Okay...
I have just spent the most annoying two days trying to register for this site. I was a loyal daily reader of Cinemania and was a bit PO'd that my log-in for that site didn't work. Oh well, i said, new site... I'll sign-up again.
I made a mistake on the sign-on page and the page reset... what I didn't notice was that the e-mail address had reset as well and so I filled it in wrong.
Instead of sending my confirmation e-mail to "xxxxxxxxx@yahoo.com" it sent it to "xxxxxxx@yahoo.com" where it will either laguish in electronic hell or some other geek will use it to activate my account.
Of course I immediately noticed the error and tried to re-sign but your software is reserving that username (barsoom)for ME! and won't let me sign on as a new account.
So then I went to the help and tried to send an e-mail to you... lo and behold... my e-mail was rejected because I don't have an account!!! Oh boy...
Just imagine yourself in my position... feel the rage building inside you? Are your muscles bulging? Has your skin taken on a slight greenish pallor? Do you feel like Bill Bixby just before the director calls "cut" and they get Lou Feringno from his trailer?
Your site has a lot of work to do to become "user-friendly" and I hope you succeed. But in the meantime I would appreciate some help.
If you can't help me then please let me know so I can delete your site from my favourites as I don't have the personality to deal with fools on a day to day basis (although if you are even remotely intelligent you have probably already surmised this salent fact).
Hope to hear from you soon. (Because I have this [possibly unresonable] fear that as soon as I click on "send", I'm going to get a reply saying "unable to deliever because [insert lame excuse here]" and then I'm just going to go POSTAL!)
Thanks In Advance,
Gordy Howe

Of course this e-mail bounced... Instead of going postal... I've decided to post here and then go for a nice calming walk. I figure that it'll only take 30 or 40 miles before I've calmed down.
If you see me on the main site it'll be with the username "pissedoff", but I'll warn you now... I probably won't.

For future reference: For anyone who has log-in issues on the new Mania.com site, please put your username here and the issue that is occuring so we may look into the registration issues at hand and have documentation of it.
Thank you.

Wow......THE Gordy Howe?
I've always wondered what you were doing after retirement from the NHL.
And now I know....

Yeah, as admin on a forum elsewhere, I know how fed up people can get when they don't feel someone cares about their problem. In my experience, people are very tolerant with tech issues, so long as they receive an explanation / apology and an assurance that the prob is being worked. The reassurance might, in fact, be a fob-off - a stalling mechanism - but it still has a placating effect on the poor sods who have got problems.
However, here, as a newbie, I shall trust in the DarkJedi and his kindred spirits...

Any and all of these issues are very easy to fix.
1) If your account is no longer with the main site then please take a moment to resign up again. It's quick and easy to do. And our apologies to anyone who didn't get their account moved over.
2) If you have signed up for the site and for whatever reason you did not get your email verification -- you mistyped your address or it was caught in a spam filter -- then WRITE info@mania.com FROM the email address associated with the user account and let us know there is a problem. Also, be sure to include the USERNAME/account name so we can look up the account. As part of this, if you know or think you mistyped your email address then PLEASE be sure to send us the correct spelling, etc. Any and all details will greatly help. We can't read minds. :)
There are no other better email accounts to write concerning issues with the site other than the one listed above. And if you write that account your issues will be addressed. Please don't simply post an issue here. Write the email above -- that will guarantee the quickest response.

I've been having weirdness, but it's only mildly annoying.
When I log in to the forums, I am not logged in to the main site.
When I manually log in to the main site and select "Remember Me," it never remembers me on next login.

I've recognized the same issue, Jakester. I think it has something to do with the cookies not corresponding from the main side to the boards side of Mania's site. By not matching up, the same custom header and footer code that is on the main site side to for people to log in is just strictly cosmetic on this side of the site. It doesn't mean you won't be logged in on the main side when you go back there from the boards...even if the Mania log in prompt above the boards say otherwise.
I've passed on the issue to the techies.

I'm a little late in the game on this, but I can't seem to log in on the main Mania site. :headscratch:
Sorry for the confusion.
I'd just like to post a reply to a comment in the Aquaman action figure thread. :) (put an angel halo above that smiley.)

What's it saying, Bill.
What's the error message say.
I might suggest creating the same name account just from a different email if you have one for the main site.

"Your login attempt was not successful, please try again."
I am at work right now, so I'm not likely to be able to do anything about it till tonight. But thank you kindly, wise one. :)
