Sandra Cisneros's "The House on Mango Street" is a collection of connected short stories.

All of the stories are about a Latina growing up in Chicago. (A "Latina" is a girl from a Spanish-speaking family.) It's one of the first works by a Latina to gain a lot of attention here in the United States.
