I am a dummie when it comes to creating links.

Good idea for a thread, woman. Never bad to ask questions.
If you want to create specialized text for your links....you can do it the old fashion way or just use the code icons found above your reply text box.
Copy and paste whatever url you want to put up.... Click on whatever reply option..."Post Reply" or the "Quick reply" icon on the post your replying to...
Your Text Reply box:
Click on that little icon with the chainlink underneath the planet.
A box will appear on your screen. Copy and paste the url you want into that box and click okay.
A code will appear in your reply box. The code will be the url twice...
The first url showing is the url itself....the next very same url after the first ---> ] <---------- is what you delete and put as whatever text you want..
Example:

Example of special link text.
