Here are the clips from the CR soundtrack. Arnold - pure gold - especially #25 (http://www.sonymusicstore.com/store/catalog/SearchAction.do?searchBy=Quick&keyword=casion+royale) :jump2: :jump2: :jump2:
WARNING: I know it's been said before, but the track titles give away spoilers.
Heavy on the strings - and a break from the wookachuck stritch scritch effects. It feels more like my favorite Arnold work - TND. It's hard to tell from just 30 second clips, but there are enough vamp cues throughout to give the picture a rich Bond sound. It seems (as much from the rumors as in the clips) that the film will be building via the soundtrack, Bond's emergence.
As much as I relish the Bond audio cues (some might say cliches) in every other scene, this soundtrack sounds like it is building a story and maintains all the richness from Bond's finest musical past.
I am excited for November!!!

#11 - Dinner jackets.
It is said that this film shows us a daimond in the rough; a bloke in chinos and short-sleeve prints who will later become Bond as we know him. This particular musical piece intrigues me. It sounds so generic; comical and whimsical. And yet, it is laced with Bond's famous riffs, almost as they are pushing to burst out. Maybe as he dons a dinner jacket for a first time?
People may harp how Bond - James Bond #25 is same-ol' - same 'ol. NO WAY. Each variation of Monty Norman's classic over the forty-plus years is magical beyond mere words. Each carries it's own subtilties and treasures. IMHO, the closer to the original, the richer the differences. Deviate further and much is lost; Moby's version is cold and lifeless.
I love how the brass is extended in the background at the 21 second mark. Notice the bongo drums coming through loud and clear after the 29 second mark. My computer speakers are cheapy pieces of shit. I can only imagine what other cues are buried within this gem.
In 2002, it was Best Buy locally that was the first to stock the soundtrack to DAD, days before the theatrical release. I will be keeping a close eye out there.

I'm curious... according to the track listing "You Know My Name" does not seem to be on this album.
Does that mean we're in for one of those P.O.S. "Music From and Inspired By" discs as well?

Actually it seems to me that Moby's version is among the most popular versions of the theme with the mainstream.

His version certainly has its fans, but for me it feels too stiff. It just doesn't swing like the full orchestration versions.

There certainly seems to be plenty of "suit action" in other parts of the movie as well. In fact the cream suit he is wearing when he gets of the plane in the Bahama's is exactly the same as the suit I bought for a friends summer wedding this last summer.
Cost a fortune too, so I need to find plenty of excuses to wear it.

Any time I need to buy a suit, I watch the latest 007 film to know what to get. I have the tan suit too! ;)

Late at night - pourng rain....
but I made my way to best Buy for the one and only CD soundtrack in stock, still on the cart.
Just got home and managed only to hear a few minutes in the car, but WOW. Of course, I skipped over all to #25 - The Name's Bond.... James Bond. Oooooooooo!!!!!!
Arnold rocks!

Easily, one of the most listenable soundtracks of the franchise and rivals my favorite Arnold score for TND. Hell, better thah TND although TND has more of the traditional Bond faire.
After seeing the movie, it is wonderful how this score compliments it to near perfection and how the film plays over in the mind, with only the score to listen to.
"The name is Bond .... James Bond" simply perfect in timing and balls for the final minutes of the film.

I also thought the score was outstanding. It had the orchestration and feel of some of the classic Bond scores, but with its own distinctive melodies. I thought it suited the movie very well.

Arnold seems to use a lot more piano, especially in the tender moments, than Barry ever did. He is also fond of this little down-arpeggio that first reared its head in The World is Not Enough (the track "Pipeline") and shows up in Die Another Day ("Antonov") and can be heard here and there throughout Casino Royale. It could just be me, but I hear a lot of influence from George Martin's Live and Let Die in this score, particularly in "African Rundown." I know Arnold has said he is a big fan of that one in particular.
It's good to hear a Bond score that doesn't overuse the Bond theme - I did find I missed it in some of the action scenes, but I understand the lack of inclusion until the end. God, it sure sounds good when it does come though. I think that theme is probably the best piece of movie music ever written.
