Why not a poll for favorite horror author?

My personal favorite is H.P. Lovecraft. He has a great way of writing that really makes you use your imagination. He almost never shows you the actual monster, just describes a person's reaction and general feelings you get from seeing whatever horror has appeared. Also, I have a fear of voids, and a lot of his stories involve voids with nameless horror just waiting to suck you in and drive you mad. Scary stuff!

Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King are a close second.

Wow, a straight 50 50. I have to add that I only pick Stephen King because I have read the mostof his work and can safely say his stories give me creeps. However Stephen King commented great acclaim to Clive Barker for his creation of Hellraiser, back then that was lke being kissed by the Queen of England.
I think Anne Rice deserves a high amount of respect for her workings but, I couldnt pick her for she isnt very scary, just wickedly imaginative and refreshingly original, in short, a great author.
I like Chrighton, but he isnt horror I guess huh?

I enjoy them all, but my favorite is Brian Lumley. His Vampire series puts Anne Rice to shame.
