I have no idea. I was too young for old school BSG and never got into it later. It wouldn't surprise me though. They like using the old school for inspiration, like when they did Pegasus.

You might be thinking of the episode where Apollo is stranded on a planet with a Cylon that is damaged and runs a cowboy like town and he ends up facing off with the cylon in an old style western showdown.

Since the old series actually had cylon pilots (3 to be exact) there was never an individual cylon protagonist other than what I mentioned above.

I think your right, some thing like that was titled in an older show. This episode was pretty good. Scar was great.

I LOVE this show, but can't see it until it comes out on DVD.

Yes, the original series episode you are thinking of had a Cylon named "Red Eye"or "One Eye"... it was a western setting.

This episode was much better than last week's but does anyone else feel that the writers are almost trying to do too much and lose their way because of it?

Case in point...Anders. It's understandable that Starbuck feels guilt for breaking her promise...but there was no real evidence of the toll it was taking on her until it was convenient to explore in this episode. She's drinking way too much to drown her sorrow and guilt ..ok fine It makes sense... but it seems to come from nowhere.

Starbuck tells Kat, "you've been on my back since I've come back." Come back from where? Pegasus? or her trip to Caprica? Cause if Starbuck has been out of it since Caprica, it didn't seem that way to us. She seemed pretty with it on Pegasus, undertaking her "resurrection ship" mission.

There was a hint of this problem (of writers reaching back to tie up something from many episodes ago) last week when Apollo had the talk with Duwalla (sp?). They had exchanged a glance a few episodes ago and the writers felt the need to go back and address it, when in reality, who cares? Apollo has an unrequited passion for Starbuck, no need to bring Duwalla into the picture. (they went back to Starbuck being the object of his affection this week, thankfully) I guess Apollo is like every other guy...can't make up his mind.

How many episodes will pass before they go back and address what they saw on Kobol (at least Starbuck mentioned Earth in this episode), or the Cylon's blood in Roslyn, or the nuke?(I have a feeling that will be sooner than later)

HOWEVER... this is still a great show and this was an excellent episode. Loved the shot of Starbuck watching the Viper combat footage by herself and the listing of the dead pilots at the end. I'm just worried about patterns I'm seeing in the writing. ...like the lazy reliance on "48 hours earlier"..."33 hours earlier" "90 minutes earlier" It's not innovative anymore, boys.

Yeah, this was used in something like three out of the last four episodes. Using unique structures like this can make your writing interesting, but use it too much and you're just calling attention to the structure, rather than the story.

Still, cool episode.
