And this week's poll goes to another very established director in Hollywood.

Which is your favorite Donner directed movie among this list. If it's not listed, check "other" which could be a exec producing credited movie perhaps or a tv movie.

It would have been more timely to do a Robert Altman poll. Maybe next time.

I'm not sure if I have the character source on this quote right but it is from The Toy and the quote itself is pretty accurate (though from memory):

Morehouse: Master Bates, Jack. Jack, Master Bates.

God, I have got to see that movie again!

To this day, directors still look to Superman as the way to make a superhero movie. Anything that can survive nearly 30 years as a beacon to good filmmaking deserves to be thought of as someone's best film.

Yeah, a total anachronism, but it was nice music nevertheless.

Well, Matthew Broderick's character seemed like an anachronism as well, but as aside from Matthew Broderick and the music, it was fine.

Well, then there was the...

ohhh, it was fine. :D

I can't wait for next week, when Donner's cut of Superman 2 goes on sale! Best Buy only has it in HD and Blu-Ray, what's with that?

Will either of those play on standard dvd players? (I'm not expecting HD or Blu-Ray quality, I just want to see that damn movie! :( )

80-87 different poll options is outside my scope of polling, Negs. It would be hard to do.

It would probably be better to make an appreciation thread for this legend.

For me it was a close call between Ladyhawke and Superman. As you can see Superman won out though. There was something special about Superman when it came out.

well sups only won by one vote... and it only has three votes... I'd sooner say give more people the opportunity to vote... (that and having less choices)

LadyHawke rules!

Goonies? why? god THAT was a Richard Donner flick??? I thought Spielberg directed Goonies?

I went for "Superman", although it was a close run thing between that and "Lethal Weapon".

Watched the theatrical cut of "Superman II" last night and Donner's cut this evening. It's pretty damn fascinating to compare the two; the Donner cut is better, but it's not without its own flaws.

My personal feeling is that very few modern Christmas movies come across as being both sentimental and genuine. Scrooged satisfies both, and has withstood the test of time well—Richard Burton/Liz Taylor jokes excepted.

I had to go with The Goonies, it's one of my all-time favorites. I remember thinking that the kids in the movie seemed so much older than me. Crazy.

I voted for "Scrooged." I still laugh when I think of Robert Mitchum talking about TV for pets.
