View Full Version : Those amazing animals! Pictures and commentary thread

There was a time when I was known primarily for posting pictures of stunning actresses, models etc, whoever I was crushing on that week.

But I'm maturing, growing. Maybe. So I thought I'd start a family-friendly thread where we would post our favourite animal photos. It could be anything, fish, reptiles, birds, insects, your favourite pet, (or all of the above, for that matter). Hell, even dinosaurs if that's your thing.

Just a timewaster. Might as well enjoy them before we drive them all to extinction.

First off...

The Great White Shark:

I always liked Cheetahs growing up...

At least I'm assuming these all are Cheetahs. Leopards can look like cheetahs sometimes.

Yep, those are cheetahs. You can tell them from leopards by the “tear track” strip running from their eyes to the corners of their mouths. Also, since they depend on speed to capture prey, they are built more like a grey hound. Leopards are a little stockier.

I was a big cat fan when I was a kid.

Animals are great, but please don’t stop posting the lovely female human pictures. :D

Yeah, that tear track is a good identifier. I actually had to edit one out that was of a leopard.

You can also tell by the cheetah's "stubby" ears, less prominent and pointy than those of other cats.

Two words: Pooper Scooper. :D

Natalie

Oh, no!! In my dream world these animals don't poop. They just let me cuddle them and then go into a closet when I have to go to work or out of town. Except the Pillsbury Dough Boy, he would travel with me in my purse and keep me company when I'm on the road.

Remember, I said "PERFECT WORLD."

:) :) :) :)

You mean the perfect world where I travel the universe in my own personal luxury spacecraft, crewed by jessica alba/salma hayek/jeri ryan cyborg clones?

Or is that unrealistic?

More scorpions!

I'm a Scorpio, btw.

Don’t be such a pessimist. There will always be chickens. . .

I like the caracal--it's the ears:

If you're a fan of big cats and want to support a place that does great work, Big Cat Rescue (http://www.bigcatrescue.org) in Tampa is a great place. I've visited there; they house many many big cats that have been abandoned or seized.

This thread reminds me of the South Park episode where it is discovered that there's a drug abuse epidemic in the school because the kids all love a show called "Close-Ups on Animals with a Wide-Angle Lens."

Just look at that face. Who could stay angry?...

Hey by any chance did you used to go by the name Greylon? There used to be a poster on Cinescape who used Puss n' Boots from Shrek 2 as his avatar...

kah

Greylon is Greyman as far as I know. He's running around with a book for an avatar.

neglet

Greylon is not Greyman. They were two different posters back on CA/Cinescape, then Greylon got fed up and Greyman got a life.

Then Greyman had a kid, so he lost his interesting life and came back here. :D

Gotcha. I get confused sometimes. Where the hell is Greylon then? Or Apoloym? Or all the other MIAPs?

I agree with the previous posts. I am not Greylon or Greyman.

I had previously posted as Alpha Dog way back in the Corona days.

Sorry, I just always wanted to use that in a post. :anismirk:
