Cinescape Fantasy Baseball '06

Just wanted to gauge the interest here in what I believe would mark our third annual Cinescape baseball league, and the....fifth? sixth? annual one dating back to the CA days. Yahoo recently opened things up for registration, and I'd be happy to commish again this year (unless, y'know, you guys don't want me to).

But I won't form the league unless there's interest in a league being formed.

I'd love to join. Mutara_Nebula here, I've enjoyed the leagues we've done in the past.

Could I suggest something, though? This time around, could the league be set up as a points league? And add some catagories? Like, instead of just points for hits, how bout points for singles, doubles and triples. 1, 2 and 3 points? I can't tell you how many times last year one of my guys got a double or a triple and I knew it meant nothing! ARGGH!

You can have a max of 15 catagories pitching and 15 batting. I mean, I'd even like to see batters get credits for taking a walk. And pitchers get a negative for allowing a walk. But not intentional walks.

I don't know, maybe I'm alone on this, I'd just like to see more catagories. And I'd like points instead of rotisserie. Anyone have some thoughts on this?

Okay, I'm a fair person. Personally I prefer roto leagues, but am up for whatever you people want it to be.

Head to head is just your team vs. another person's team, for a week. You compete in catagories. Probably about 10. Avg. HR's, K's...etc. You could set your lineup just the same as roto or points. A whole week in advance if you so choose.

I generally prefer roto, and we generally do one through CA/Cinescape, but I went with head to head this year in the hopes of promoting more trash talking, and just for something different.

Some scoring/positions are tweakable, others aren't, so get in there, look things over, and pre-rank your people so I can turn the draft on ASAP.

Make sure you click the "free fantasy baseball" link instead of their "Baseball Plus" section. I'm thinking you may have been in the Baseball Plus (or whatever their pay game is called) since you got the "This league is from the free game" message.

So...yeah...try that. They hide the link in tiny letters somewhere on that main screen.

I'll leave registration open for another day or three. Pre-rank your players and look over the scoring NOW. I can't change scoring or positions after the draft goes down. (I'm not entirely sure I can now, but it's more feasable.)

Just to say here what I told Scotia via email, I cannot, at this point, change the commish options so that I would have the power to automatically veto BS trades.

So, since somebody entered in two teams, and is still looking to take advantage of that, the only way for trades of this nature to go away are for at least four members of the league to vote against it.

Just a shame that I had to post this message, is all.

This is my first Fantasy Baseball league, I never seen the rosters get locked and unlocked, what does this do?

That was me testing the waters on something.
It'll come into play next time the two teams in question play each other.
Should be the way around what happened last time (one team benched all their players so the other would win 10-0).

So ya, back on topic for a minute...

Anybody interested in making Cine fantasy baseball a keeper league? Is it even possible, Commish? Im having a monster year but I guess a lot of the stats have been skewed by that Syphon guy. Dickhead. Id love to retain most of my pitching staff and the infield. But Jesus, I'll have to go to Japan to get a decent catcher.

The 5-5 is a big improvment over last time. With extra categories the lineups get cumbersome and picking off the wire becomes a chore. I like the current format mucho bettero.

A 5-5 roto would give me a hard on.

I think we'd have to pay money for that at the beginning of the year.

I CAN, however, look into other providers that may offer a free keeper league for next year. I've done a couple of those in the past and loved 'em.
