I actually check out amazon.com and read all the customer reviews. I occasionally get spoiled, but it's nice to read what other people think who aren't getting paid to critique it.

Also, they reprint reviews from major industry magazines, such as Publishers Weekly and Library Journal. Combined with the user reviews, you can get a pretty good idea about what's in the book.

With the price of books lately, though, I always check it out from the library first unless it's a favorite author I know I'll reread over and over.

I've started reading ebooks. They're cheaper, can be loaded onto readers that are small and light, etc. But, I didn have to update my Rx for eyeglasses. Still worth it. I had to throw out almost 500 novels that I had stored in my basement because they molded. It broke my heart, and I wouldn't know where to begin to replace them. I bought a dehumidifier and hope that it will preserve the rest. I've never had a disk mold yet.

I enjoy the Book review sections in my weekend papers. On line, this is one of the sites I like.
