Hey folks,

As you have probably guessed or heard, we had a major snag trying to import the old UBB threads to our new VB software. Apparently, the old UBB forums were corrupted.

LOL Imagine that?

Anyway, the man paying for it all was very kind enough to leave our old UBB threads link up and running for the time being and everything that was posted there by you folks.

Just save your old UBB threads Bookmark as seperate then this. You can tell the difference by what your book mark says. One will say "Powered by UBB" and one will say "Powered by VB".

That community of UBB will be closed but the link will be active for you to access old threads.

If you have any questions, let me know.

You know... I was kinda getting used to having the run of the place... but other than that, no complaints. This place seems great.

I might change my username though. Do I have to re-register or is there a asimpler way to go about that?

I have a question too: Is it just temporary that new threads can't be posted yet, or is it that only mods can do that now?

Hey Alpha,

I just tested the issue on a Regular User account and it seems to be just fine as far as I can see it. At least, the account was able to create a new thread here.

I know that the forums are setup a little differently and we will all get familiar with them as time moves along. I'll try and set up a Guide to basic posting and abilities thread as soon as I can work one up.

For now though...When you enter a forum, first make sure you are logged in, and once that is clear, click on the New Thread button found on the top left of your screen(Just under your User CP link). There is also a New Thread button on the bottom left(just under the lowest thread for that forum's page).

Also, when replying to threads already in existence, there are Reply Buttons on the bottom left of the post you wish to reply to as well as a Quick Reply option. If you would like to use the Quick Reply option, all you have to do is look to the lower right of the post in question. There will be 3 options(icons). To the far right icon you will see a simple Scroll of Paper Icon. Click on that and the Quick Reply Box will light up and be ready for you.

Thanks, I'll give it a try later on.

Can we get a link to the old forums? I lost my bookmarks in a reformat recently.

Hi there! Are these old threads still around somewhere? I clicked the link and it's gone, I searched around on google, all links to the old board I found don't work.

Anyone know?

They are gone. The old hosting company saw to that.

Kind of sad, really, when you think about it. All those thoughts and ideas, debates and conversations, just... vaporized.

Tell me there's some archived somewhere...

They were considered archived for a year...I know it was paid to keep up with the old hosting server for a good year while we were over here.

Then out of nowhere with only a days notice to us and the man paying the bills, the hosting company pulled the plug on their server. Wham, it's gone.

Maybe some of us were smart enough to save some of their threads while it was up for a year but I know I didn't personally save some of my own threads. Someone else might have though.

There's no going back though, thanks to that hosting company.

I say again, very sad. Depressing, actually. Some of those debates and conversations were like works of art, and now there will be no record of them at all.

I'll never forget our time together, Spacey. Remember those early days, back when Paul Martin and Bono were hommies and the Tories looked like the supporting cast from Borat. Pretty sweet...*sigh*

And, that frank little talk we had after you took that jaunt down the 401...

Ah, good times. Good times... *tear*

Think, I figured you for just another sarcastic Surecure with a way bigger vocabulary. Turns out I was wrong.

All the guys from Southern Ontario talk like that.

Just goes to show, you can never tell about some people.

I'm not sure if I've changed that much in my general, all-encompassing worldview. But I've certainly altered a few of the details.

And yes, there are a few threads and posts that would probably be embarrassing to me now. Make that definitely. But the evolution and change of my views--and everyone else's views--would have been nice to reflect on years from now, if any of us became famous.

Kinda sucks that some jerks could just pull the plug on it all like that. :shakehead:
