I'm Luke's (HighSky's) sister and I'm posting an emailed message from him to the board.
Hey Guys and Gals. It's been a long few weeks. My grandfather passed away last week, and while not unexpected, was a little sudden. It's been sad, but i know he is not suffering anymore. I'm currently on one hell of a road trip though.
I volunteered to scatter his ashes. He had 2 specific spots in mind.
1. Atlantic City - My grandfather, god love him, loved to gamble, and he loved bringing the grandchildren to the beach. He wanted part of them scattered there.
2. Normandy. My Grandfather was a vet, so i guess its understandable he wanted part of it to go there. He did land there on D-Day.
As I've gone on this trip, I think i have begun to get a greater understanding of my Grandfather. He was a stubborn man, sure, but he was dedicated. He may have been abrasive, but he had so much tragedy forced upon him in the last 10 years of his life.He had lost 2 kids to cancer (After losing 2 in childbirth). He had been forced into retirement(His health finally did him in 6 months ago). And He had lost his wife and his ability to care for her(Alzheimer's and Dementia).
The man loved his family, his wife, and his life.
I do not mourn for him, I celebrate for him.
Goodbye Pop. I miss ya.
