Come on in! Welcome to The Cinescape Cantina! Sit down, have a drink (or two) and enjoy the company of a friend! The famous Modal Nodes are...hold on a sec...

MORN! Get out from behind that counter you pig! Put that scotch bottle down! I said no freebies and that's how it will be!

I swear...Lurians can be irritating sometimes.

I'll have a zombie.

Of course, I have NO idea what is in a drink like that,
but it sounds fun enough to try. :smirk:

Well, being diabetic, I gotta watch what I drink, but a vodka with some crystal light ruby red grapefruit or some sugar-free red bull will do fine. Oh, and I WILL shoot first! :D

Irish Carbomb please

DarkJedi
02-08-2006, 09:09 PM
Irish Carbombs rock.

I haven't had one in 7 years but when I did partake in them that lovely evening, the 6 Irish bombs in a row that I had made me utterly useless and absolutely plastered.

Malenko
02-08-2006, 09:11 PM
yep, that would be an Irish Carbomb as I remember (and I usually don't after about 3)

DarkJedi
02-08-2006, 09:14 PM
Me too.

3 or 4 is most definitely the magical number. Anything after that is a waste of money since you're already incoherent at that point.

I was still stupid enough to order two or three more while my brother in law looked at me as if I was going to be needing a trip to the ER at any second.

Is there a drink called a Bloody Sunday? Because that would probably be something to drink after your carbomb.

It's cold out today. I'd like a mug of hot chocolate.

...Make that half a mug of hot chocolate. Fill the rest of the mug with Bailey's.

And some Crestor on the side, please.:ohwell:

Bokchoi Cowboy

Crester? You cholesterol spiking there Negs?

Someone pour me a Kronenberg 1664. Any bar snacks around here? Do we have a grill?

neglet
02-09-2006, 06:17 AM
A grill! Yes, grilled salmon would be nice. It's good for my heart.

And yes, my cholesterol is on the high side. Since my grandmother had her first bypass at 59, I'm trying to bring it down with diet--in which hot cocoa and Bailey's definitely does not belong, unless it comes with a side of statins. So maybe I'd better change that order to a glass of Rioja. <sigh>

Bartender! Give me a nice cold Shiner Bock. Or maybe a Maredsous. Or a nice Rahr Pecker Wrecker. (http://www.rahrbrewing.com/peckerwrecker-label.html) I swear, that's a real beer. :)

Bok,
Being that you are a discerning German Beer lover. Ever hear of Kulmbacher Brauerei (http://www.kulmbacher.de/de/klbag/start.php)? It's from my wife's Mom's home town.

I'm not a big beer drinker myself, but they entire family swears by it. Hard to find sometimes, but we have been lucky to find it locally lately.

EDIT: Shame upon my misspelling!

I was thinking no, as you mispelled the name. Not Klumbacher but Kulmbacher.

Yes, I have enjoyed some of their offerings. Both their namesake brand and the EKU. Ever so often I will grab some of the EKU 28 from our local Beverages and More for sipping during the colder months. Makes a great replacement for brandy when you are in the mood to sit in front of the fire, reading, and sipping something.

Anyone here ever drink a snakebite?

DaForce

Depends on which version of Snakebite you're talking about.

There's the pansy version that's beer and pear cider mixed, or there's the real oh-my-dear-lord-what-the-fuck-did-I-just-drink version of 50/50 Yukon Jack and Rose's lime juice.

I've had both.

In fact, I used to drink the second one on quite a regular basis back when I lived in Cowtown (AKA Davis, CA).

But I used to be a lot meaner then.

Well, I submit to you that drinking any whiskey mixed with anything other than another alcohol (and especially the juice of a citrus) and thinking it makes you mean makes you a complete tool. :smirk:

I have anecdotal evidence, however, that about 10 of the ol' lager-and-cider snakebites will make you think you've been drinking Sam Jackson beer ("you might even fight a nigga or two!"). A buddy of mine kicked the crap out of a friend of his after they had spent the night drinking snakebites.

Not to mention that it's illegal to serve lager and cider at the same table in England (a place where lots of drinking gets done) because of the infamy of the beer version of a snakebite.

I guess you don't serve Romulan ale or Pangalactic Gargle Blasters...

So, whisky has to do.

No, CSM, I didn't mean the drink. Get back down there.

I'ts not actually illegal to serve Cider and beer at the same table in England, but I have been to a number of pubs in London where they won't serve a snakebite. It's ussually the pubs where people are going to be drinking heavy. Most of the nicer places ever had a problem puring a snakebite or giving me a beer and my wife a cider.

Did someone say Scotch?
I like the single malts from Islay. I like Lagavulin. if you're a scotch drinker, let a little bit of this stuff roll around on your palate and the smokey finish lasts for days.

And since I'm talkin Liquor.... Don Julio Tequila gets my vote.

Beer?
Sippin with friends?............Stone IPA or Franzeskaner Hefe Weitzen
Mowin a lawn? ...................Bohemia.

Oh.. and here's a gem if you can find it. I've seen it at BevMo, Get a bottle of the Baltika Lager with a number 8 on the label. 9% alcohol and smooth and crisp... YUM.:D
