oh my God, those Gorilla Nation ads are really annoying, they pop up at EVERY button click and occupy the WHOLE PAGE!
what gives, guys? I mean I know the site aint free but it seems ever other ad on Mania has its place and fits nicely on the page ...not the FULL PAGE. Its extremely annoying.

I don't know which I find more annoying: these or the mandatory drop-downs.

They're usually on forum pages. They're things like the three guys with consoles for heads dropping down in front of threads.

I never see them. I have my bookmark directly on the forums page and only get the banner ad for the same damn annoying horror film every time.

I have it bookmarked too, Negs. However, everytime I make my first post of the day, I have to skip an ad. But once I click SKip Ad a few times, it goes away.

Weird. I never get a drop-down or pop-up ad. I do use Google Popup Blocker, maybe that's it.

I really really REALLY dislike the full screen ad that I have to skip in order to get to where I want to go. Please inform the advertising department that it is having a completely negative effect on me, and the only thing it accomplishes is to make me care about the product less.

I'm with Penfold. Anything that approximates the "junk mail" approach gets a zero response from me for the party wishing to advertise.

See, if you guys took better care of your computers, you wouldn't have this problem. :) Neglet does. :) I do. :) So what's the problem? :)
Uh... stay on your side of the playground. :Smirk: I don't want to catch any weird computer viruses or anything.  :p http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/7753/newemot8gp0.gif

Okay, this isn't about popups, but there are way too many flash animated ads (Open Water 2 and the one with the baby doll w/ the bleeding eye) on the main site at any given time. Sometimes there are three frames for the same frigging movie. In any event, they're slowing the window down so amazingly much that I can't use the scroll wheel on my mouse or keyboard and the up/down buttons in the browser are also unresponsive. I have to click and drag the sidebar to scroll. And even then, it's slow moving. It doesn't happen in the forums, but it happens to most pages on Mania proper.

I recently updated my anti-virus, anti-spyware, and pop-up blocker. I don't get the Gorilla Nation ads anymore, but if my cursor gets any where near the top of the page the drop downs take over. I may never shop at Circuit City again and I definitely have no interest in seeing "The Abandoned."

Learn to live with the annoying adds people. Nobody from the site officially cares to respond, apparently.

Too many bells & whistles are making people live, this forum.
When I joined in 2001 , it was fun.
but not now! flash ads, flash trailers everywhere !
Most flash stuff crashs my browser.:(
Does this site need all this fluff?
Wouldn't be better and cheaper to have non flash site?

Allow me to express my love for the new NIN ad that's all over the place. Yeah, I know you guys have nothing to do with it, but please...take the credit and let me love you. It won't happen often.

I am on this site multiple times a day and have never once seen a full screen ad.
Are you talking about one of those ads that are like: "Please click here to continue to your desired location" or whatever?
Or is it like a javascript type pop up that opens in another window?

It's the "click here to skip this ad" type.
There's also the ads that drop down without you doing anything and then you gotta find the x to close it which, naturally, is not easy to see and can take some time to search.
Did I mention that these ads only make me boycott the companies who advertise with them?

This fucking Sublime ad is getting on my LAST nerve. It pops up on EVERY SINGLE DAMN CLICK  It just started happening. I noticed it at the bottom of every page, but now it's popping up right in the middle of my screen.

Owner sent them a note and is looking into it.
Personally, I think Gorilla Nations screwed up in their advertising code script for this one.
It's being looking into now.

I look at it this way, if Gorilla Nation wanted me not to buy these things they are advertising, then mission accomplished.
Right now, I feel like finding Gorilla Nation headquarters, burning it to the ground, pissing on the ashes, salting the earth, making it into a Superfund site, and then paving that shit over and turning it into the world's largest compost pile.

I'm pretty much of the same opinion as far as certain Gorilla Nations ads. Like Trixie has said, I will never go to Circuity City again because their GN ad has angered me to no end for months.

I believe Gorilla nation has fixed it sometime tonight.
At least, I haven't seen in the past 30 minutes.

I'm bringing this up again because I am really frustrated with these stupid full screen ads. Sometimes I don't see them at all, sometimes it happens everytime I click on something, even if it's the quick reply button (the presence of those ads kind of defeats the time saving purpose of that button, doesn't it?). It's very frustrating.
