Just letting everyone know ahead of time, there will be an overhaul of the forums over the next few months.

Part of this is the fact that we just do not have certain traffic numbers to sustain some forums that exist on their own. We had those numbers in years gone by. Our new software boards have been up and running for a year now and some forums don't have 1,000 posts yet. Some forums don't even have 300 posts. I've kept them up since switching software early last year to see if we can increase traffic into them but it's just not happening. I've been in constant status of the traffic statistics over the last 12 months to see which forums do well and which don't sustain a reason to exist on their own. Perhaps in the future, if we have the traffic to give reason for it existing on its own, then it will be created again. Until then though, those forums will be dismantled and combined.

Over the next few months a lot of these forums(low traffic) are likely to be combined with other forums that can fit their criteria. Most likely, they will be combined with the leader of their categories. In other words, low traffic forums in the "Inside Hollywood's Studios" sub-category will be combined with GMF. Low traffic tv forums will be combined with the GTF. Superhero forums will be combined together.

By 05/01/07, the forum overhaul will be completed.

good news... housecleaning and condensing forums is always good.

except when the LOST fans have to share the same space with the 007 lovers, the Heros fans and those darn BSG knuckleheads!!!!

You know, when I read the title of this thread, I that I would have to find someplace else on the web to hang out.

Bill, can I have a veggi club?

Great! And some pie, too? :D

I think that all the comics and superheroes forums should be shut down. Horrible things, those comic books, full of their violence and mayhem!

Instead of comic books, why don't you kids go to the library, get a library card and check out some books? :)

whats in the Misc. area? so far i'm still seeing COLTS vs BEARS in the sports, shouldnt that have switched to NASCAR? Harvick won by a nose but we're still talking about the Superbowl©?

other catagories include books, music and Vid games....

More forums will be gone by the time of May.

New forums that correspond with our main site focus will be there.(Blogs, Videos, Reviews, Cheats & Contests)

Tonight's changes was phase 1.

I've left the forums that exist right now for a few more weeks to see how traffic fares in them. If they don't do better or if we don't do enough traffic in them, they will be gone as well.

Also, forums which match up with our main site focus will most likely stay.

Stephen Lackey, our Tv columnist, enjoys Heroes, Lost and Battlestar Galatica. We will most likely keep those forums in one way or another. Same goes for Video Games with our columnist Captain Gordon. The very same goes for comic books with our columnist Kurt Amacker.

More changes are on the horizon in the coming months..

Well, yes. Thank you. That's who I was asking.

I'd have some strong objections to that one going away. A lot of the others make sense.

But, y'know, I assume he'd at least let the moderator know about it before taking unilateral action to alter that forum in any way.

Sports does a little better then some others..It hasn't been decided yet.

24 is most likely going if traffic doesn't increase in the coming months.

Plus this is sort of a dead time for sports. Next month with March Madness, then baseball in the spring, and the NFL Draft, and then Stanley Cup and NBA playoffs. You get the picture.

Yeah, you at least have to keep the Sports Forum up through March Madness. It's not that far away, thank God. A choice between golf and NASCAR means I'm watching DVDs.

...last I checked there's a little over 1300 posts in Sports.

Where would those go if not that forum? GMF? GTF? The Lounge?

There's no where else that all that sports talk is going to go that wouldn't just alienate the crap out of those who really couldn't give less of a damn about sports.

VERY surprised this is actually being considered.

..well, no, all things considered, I guess not THAT surprised.

There are well over 1000 posts in the Sports forum and its only been active for about a year. A lot of regulars enjoy it and it's certainly one of the reasons I've stuck around this place. Wouldn't make any sense to close it.
