Greetings, fellow Earthlings! Just a few teeny rules to keep our forum running smoothly. I'm not picky about pictures, thread clutter, profanity, or much of anything else. (Except grammar, but you don't pay me enough to be your editor.) So as long as we play nice and stay close to topics of fantasy and sci fi movies, I doubt I'll have much to do besides deleting spam.

Also, I just want to let you know there are other forums here for related topics. Specific movies are sometimes discussed in the General Movie Forum, but that doesn't mean we can't post here as well. The "Beyond the Sci-Fi Channel" forum deals with Stargate, Farscape, BSG, "Star Trek," and other television series. Book discussions are usually in the Literary Corner, although you're welcome to talk about books you wish would become movies in this forum. Fan fic, if you want to share, should also go in the Literary Corner.

And of course, you can PM me or Strider with any problems or questions. Thanks!

They aren't many, but they are important.

1. Because we may have underage readers, HP threads should be strictly PG-rated. Profanity will be edited.

2. Please be considerate and mark potential SPOILERS within your posts. If a thread is headed [MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS], readers should assume every post may contain spoilers and should read at their own risk. If a thread is not marked as a spoiler thread, putting your info between [spoiler}[/spoiler} codes (use brackets [] on both sides) will hide the spoiler unless someone deliberately swipes the text.

When judging whether something is a spoiler, don't assume everyone has read every book in the series. Some people (poor unfortunates) may have only seen the movies, so don't spoil upcoming movies with info you already know from books 5 & 6.

3. Otherwise, play nice. We're here to have fun discussing the world of Harry Potter, so no personal attacks. If you see trolls, or any violations of these rules, please PM me or use the <!> button (at bottom left of post window) to notify me of any bad posts. I will then wave my wand and say "Expelliarmus!" to dispatch them.:D

Enjoy, and we'll all count down the days to Book 7 together!

I was a moderator on another forum. Here's hoping to that none of the idiots I have had to deal with never come across these forums.

UPDATE: The Harry Potter forum has now merged into Sci Fi and Fantasy. Obviously, we can't keep the old HP PG-rating rules for the whole forum, because SF/F includes R-rated flicks like the recent "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Children of Men."

So I ask nicely: if we're talking about a film that will obviously attract a younger audience (Harry Potter, Narnia, His Dark Materials, Eragon), please watch your language.

Oh, SPOILER rules still apply for discussion of Harry Potter books 5, 6, and 7. See the second post in this thread for details.

New sheriff. Same rules.

Big Sister is still around too, so watch your spelling. :D
