Penn became the first team to officially make the NCAA tournament today. So, who's going to win it all this year? My boys at Appalachian State lost yesterday in their conference tournament, so they won't be in the dance.

Yeaaaah...the Golden Gophers won about 7 times this year, so the only dancing they'll do (unless they somehow knock off OSU, Wisconsin, and Indiana in the Big 10 Tournament) will be with their girlfriends.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that UNC doesn't win it all this year. I also don't want Florida to repeat because I'm perfectly content that no one has repeated since my Dukies did in '91-'92.

I think this is going to be one of the most wide open tournaments in recent memory. Some Cinderella teams are going to make deep runs this year because there just aren't many teams that are much better than everyone else. It should be a very exciting and unpredictable tournament this year.

Go Duke!

Jetpack, I love you, man. I grew up in the heart of Tobacco Road, rooting for Duke in a 95% Tar Hole town. Glad to see someone else stand up for the good guys.

Lord God, let Kansas take it all..
Besides being in the Big 12, I'm sick of the East Coast bias that ESPN has...
Heck, I'd love to see Belmont or someone none of the so called experts expect.

Alrighty, tonight Horizon League finale. If my alma mater Wright State wins by defeating #16 Butler, they are in. They've already beat them once this year and the tourney's held on their home court so I'm crossing my fingers!

Unless Michigan can run the Big Ten tourney, it's NIT time again, and a run of 10 friggin' YEARS without a berth in the NCAAs. Last weekend's last-minute loss against #1 OSU was typical: look good for 36 minutes, then miss one-and-ones, flub a dunk instead of taking the easy lay-up, and make crappy passes that lead to turnovers until you lose the game. I'm not usually one of these "fire the coach" fanatics, but after six years we need fresh blood.

So I guess I'll probably have to root for the Badgers.

YES! My boy's are going dancing (http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=270652750)! :D :bounce: :chewiedance:

So how about that ACC tournament? All four games of the first round were upsets. It would be funny if the 11 and 12 seeds played in the ACC championship game. :D

I never do well at these pools, but I like making brackets. This may be why I only do the free ones, not ones where I have to throw in money.

Yeah, making brackets is fun. That reminds me, I need to see if we are doing them at work this year...

I'm in.

And it's worth noting to anybody else who may join, that that password needs to have a lower case m.

Took me damn near five minutes to figure that out. :p

I'm in. And I'm experimenting this year with my first-round picks. Since I always agonize over which upsets to pick, this year I'm going with the higher seed except in the 8/9 matchup, just to see if I do better or just as well as I have in previous first rounds.

I'm in. My bracket is reaching all over the place. This year is going to be one wild dance. I didn't even have the slightest idea how to begin picking this year.

I pretty much threw darts at the bracket to come up with my picks. It's as good a system as any.

I just need throw in a cheer for my boys at App State, who are playing in the Little Dance (NIT) tomorrow against Ole Miss. I've heard several experts complaining about their not being included in the NCAA field, which I'm grateful for, but really, to even get in the NIT is a major accomplishment for the Mountaineers, who beat four NCAA tournament teams during the year - Virginia, Vanderbilt, VCU, and Davidson.

Oooo, maybe App State and Michigan can meet in the NIT ... and then we'll have the grudge rematch in football next fall! (You're welcome for the big payday from the Big House.)

I just want to know how the hell Stanford made it into the tournament with less than 20 wins. Every other team in the tournament won at least 20 games, and there were several teams that didn't make it in who had at least 20 wins. So why the hell did Stanford get picked?

I guess it just means I get to cheer for Missouri State in the NIT instead of the Final Four. Hopefully they will win their game tonight against San Diego State so I can see a game or two on TV. Being in North Carolina now means I don't get to see many of my old school's games. :(

So, that was kind of a boring first day. The biggest upset was VCU over Duke, which isn't that much of a surprise after Duke's kind of pitiful season. I can only hope they come back stronger next year.

See, my strategy of picking all the top seeds (except for 8 over 9) in the first round is working! I'm very surprised, I thought there would be more upsets. Maybe today.

So, my Final Four is half right - I got OSU and Georgetown. But my national champion is dead, so I'm now picking OSU.

Well, go UCLA and go G'Town I guess. Why the hell did Texas have to lose to USC. They would have dispatched UNC. Oh well, I've still got a shot at cutting down some nets in a few days.

Well, the best I can do is second place, and that's only if Georgetown and UCLA make the final.

But Florida is making a strong case for my undying hatred. :upyours:

Personally, I thought we'd never see another repeat champion in today's climate of people jumping to the NBA so early. Then everyone from last year's team stuck around, and Florida won again. Makes a good case for staying in school. I am happy about that.

Aw shucks, Omi, you're thinking of cheating on us? How shameful.

We here at Michigan already hate teams from Florida. But our hate for OSU is constant. It's kinda like the skanky girlfriend you can't help but bang every time you see her, she's so slutty.
