Six weeks to go until I cross the pond and come to play in the USA for the first time since 2000 with a group of friends. We have decided to regress to our youth and are going to do Orlando and go slightly theme park crazy. From our rented house in Kissimee we shall spread out and conquer central Florida..... <evil laugh>.... ahem...

We are doing :

Discovery Cove (inc dolphin swim)
SeaWorld (inc shark tank thingy)
Magic Kingdom
Disney MGM
Disney Animal Kingdom
Epcot (inc Dive Quest in the Living Seas)
Universal Studios
Islands of Adventure

Plus we have booked for Cirque Du Soleil, will be hitting the evening entertainment pretty hard the night before our days off and so on.

We are not doing Kennedy Space Centre or Busch Gardens as we did them a few years back and we are older now, therefore need the rest days to ease our creaking limbs.

So anyone got any hints and tips ? Anybody out there a seasoned vet of Orlando ? What shows should be missed, what is must see ???? Share with me, otherwise I will drown in a sea of guide books and spend the time wandering about with a confused look on my face!

I thought this was going to be a thread on how best to win Orlando Bloom's heart.

I think I already told you about Big Cat Rescue, (http://www.bigcatrescue.org) on the west side of Tampa, which is easily within driving distance. (Between an hour and 90 minutes, I believe.) Their tour is about an hour, so it could make for a nice little side trip.

Oh, and I believe there is an outlet mall in Orlando not far from Disney World. With the relative weakness of the dollar against the pound, I'll bet you'll find some good bargains there. Although I'll bet that's already on your list, even if you didn't admit it--I know how you Brits love a good bargain over here.

Definitely on both the Big Cat Rescue and the bargain hunting. CD's, DVD's and so on are a steal in the US compared to the UK. And more functional clothes like branded sportswear for use in the gym, workboots, jeans and so on are always good.

I intend to avoid dinner theatres like the plague !

Sorry man, everytime I go stateside it's Tampa all the way. But, I would say, if you're going to the big cat rescue and you are in the Tampa area, do yourself a favour and go get dinner at the Cheescake Factory.
