Any figure skating fans? I never miss Olympic skating. Tonight, French skater Brian Joubert did a 007 themed skate for his short program. His music was the Bond theme, and his costume had "007" on the back. The costume was a sequinned (hey, skating) suit, complete with tie, and he wore one shiny black glove, using it effectively to appear to be a gun.

Not only did his choreography include a lot of simulated shooting (which was, y'know, silly) but also simulated punches and yes, driving.

Unfortunately, he blew a big jump and ended up somewhere below tenth place. Long program ("free skate") is on Thursday.

What a disappointment.

The thread title teased me into believing somebody was finally putting together a Bond IceCapades Show. :(

Move over, Daniel Craig!

I saw the topic and thought they were putting the next Bond movie on hold... hmm...

Crazy French skaters.

Yeah, I saw this last night and thought of you guys. Specifically, of Uncle and Leiter popping a vein at seeing "Bond as skater in sequins."

I'm trying to remember--has Bond ever done ice skating, or other winter sports besides skiing? (I don't count bobsledding, that was a) skiing on the bobsled run or b) sledding on a cello.) I think to make 007 "new and hip" they should have him do the halfpipe--just think, he could hit the bad guys while doing a fakey 180! Totally rad, dude!

I'm having the devil of a time loading the Olympics website (http://www.nbcolympics.com), so I can't post a picture. It's different from the one Uncle posted.

Bond has never been on ice skates. He was on the skating rink in FYEO, but did not skate.

I am not a huge fan of skating, but luckily I did catch this one. I'm sorry, but I was laughing my ass off. Figure skating can look dumb enough with the dance moves, but this guy took it to a new level.

Here (http://www.nbcolympics.com/figureskating/5107897/detail.html) are pictures (#18–22 in the slideshow).

I adore figure skating, but I thought this guy's choreography was ridiculous. I think something exciting could be done with the Bond Theme as music, but this wasn't it. I was unimpressed by the skating and I wish the guy's standing hadn't ended up as high as it did.

Yeah, I think the commentators described his choreography as "trite," with the fake shooting and driving. I mean, if you're really going to do Bond on ice, shouldn't you include fake action with the ladies as well? :smirk:

And that was before the driving!

Can you do that on ice? :ohwell:

I don't know, but I would like to see them try.

Oh, Gods, I hate ice dancing. You can't get me to watch it. There's no skating!
