Usually, about 9.99 times out of 10, I enthusiastically side with police when accused of excessive force. I am not a police officer, but I have a seriously difficult time believeing that this police officer acted appropriately in any way, shape, or form.
As someone who doesnt know police procedure, surely there must be some way an officer is supposed to handle a speeder who has indicated she is responding to a family medical emergency. If there is, he didnt do it. And once she 'fled' (though all she did was continue and pull over at the hospital. I'd love to know how far it was, it seems like she moved maybe 50 feet from what I can see) he 'casually' walks over to the car, indicating that he seems aware she is not a threat to him, he reaches into the car to yank her out forcefully without ever asked her to step out of the car, so that the car begins to roll on it's own. I have a hard time believing that is correct procedure. Then of course slamming her on the hood, and 'rubbing it in' about how she doesnt get to see her father now... I'd like to be more objective, but on a personal level, that's unspeakable!
Creeps like this play right into the stereotypes that 'cop-haters' adhere to.
This disgusted me. I hope he gets fired.

Wow. I know that she was worried about her father. But, she should have done what the cop said and let him write her the ticket.
The police officer should have been more sympatheic to her situation and followed her to the hospital.

Cop problems up here too:
Local Sherrif Deputy here was found Not Guilty of vehicular manslaughter (http://www.13wham.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=067c2b97-b9f2-480e-b75b-9600315e59d6). The Deputy was off duty, dirving down a country road, with a blood alchohol level 3 TIMES the legal limit. He crashed into a motorcyclist, killing him.
The investigation determined that the motorcycle driver was going 25 miles over the speed limit and attmepting to pass on a winding road.
The judge ruled that it was the actions of the motorcyle driver that caused the crash and not the fact that the Deptuy was drunk.
Granted, he'll likely be suspended and carry a DWI on his record. But the whole thing smells corrupt.
EDIT: Post # 1,500 Woooo hoooo!!!!!!

Yes that sounds pretty f'd up! It just goes to show that celebrities and cops, pretty much anyone besides civilians, get away with whatever they want. I cannot count how many times i have heard of celebs getting in trouble and all they get, if anything, is a slap on the wrist. It just goes to show how society views celebs, it is really sad.
I don't really have to go here again, do I?

That's "milk jug face," isn't it? Carpio? He frigging deserved that, though.
This chick...not so much, and the officer claims that he would've been justified in drawing his weapon on the woman. Uh...no.
Okay...your pic isn't of Carpio nevermind. Carpio was a dude who escaped from court, and stole a cop's gun and killed him with it and jumped out a window. When he was caught and showed up in court a few days later, his face was a mess -- much like that dude's. And I don't care.

I'd have even cut the prick more slack if he told her (as opposed to dragged her) to step out of the car with his hand on his weapon, or even with his weapon drawn. Someone obviously pissed in his corn flakes that morning, and she got the brunt of it. What a way to treat a woman who is obviously paniced and hysterical. I hope he gets booted.

Some people don't respond well when it is apparent that there is more important things in in life than their "Authority". The whole things smacks of a bruised ego and she was going to pay for it.
On that note, I am really tired of hearing what a person is authorized to do in a situation when what they are describing is simple overkill. Yeah, she should have taken the ticket. Yeah, the cop was authorized to arrest her for what he saw was "attempting to flee" even though he knew perfectly well where she was going. Just because you CAN do a thing doesn't always mean you should.

We've had cases of police brutality in Vancouver... actually homophobic police brutality.
Three cops beating the shit out of some gay men in a park at night. They don't have jobs any more.

A number of years ago, in NC, there was a wife who was speeding to take her husband to the hospital because he was having a heart attack.
They lived on a farm, and the ambulance was going to take some time to arrive (she did call).
She was stopped by police for speeding. She explained the situation, and the cops detained her and her husband, who was obviously in medical distress, explaining that it was no excuse to speed and they should have waited for the ambulance and he slowly wrote them the ticket. The coroner said that if the man would have lived if the officer did not delay them.
