Michelle Ryan is hot. I thought she was hot on Eastenders, and she's even hotter now.

And who is that woman she's fighting in that video? It's the first bionic woman, played by none other than Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff)! KICK-ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so there.

There's a screener of the pilot floating around.

Yeah I caght that screener, and this is definetly a cool new fall show. One I wont miss an episode of at all

I'll probably watch it tomorrow. I'm definitely keen on this one. Sackhoff is always awesome, and I've always had a boner for Ryan.

Watched it. They still need to do some ADR work and get a soundtrack in there. Right now it's 28 Days Later, which worked fine, but still...
The pilot itself was GREAT! Nice set up and background on Jamie. I dig the deaf sister and Jamie's sense of responsibility for her. Ryan does a great job as Summers and her accent is great. You'd never know she was British. She also handles the fight scenes very well.
Sackhoff is frigging awesome. I'm glad she'll be recurring. She plays the unhinged psycho extremely well, and is totally badass.
Miguel Ferrer is great in it, too. The rest of the supporting cast is fine as well.
I think this and Sarah Connor Chronicles will be the only two shows I'm picking up in the fall. And Chronicles won't show up 'til midseason.

Hey, Jakestster, which website are you referring to, ie "fatboy's"? Is he another one of those sad sacks hung up on Battlestar Galactica with a permanent mad on for all the people associated with the new show?
Jakester

No...aintitcool. Harry's a "person of size." Actually, he could be two "people of size."

It's -18% Scale. That's all I have to say on the subject.
I could like... find out what happens in episode two if I wanted... bwahah! With my ninja skills.

I've no idea what you're on aboot, Sgt, but I'd be keen to know what happens in episode 2.

What -18% scale means is the producers are cheap asses and paying everybody 18% less then Union scale. I'll see if I can get a script.

Aaaah, I see. That sucketh, but the show is good. Maybe it was to get more bang for the buck for the show. I dunno. I'm impressed by it, and will be watching it.

Saw the episode at Comic Con. Supposedly they're replacing the deaf sister with a different actress, so all those scenes have to be re-shot.
One question though....why does San Francisco (on the show) look like Vancouver?
:D

The retooled pilot is available for free from Amazon Unbox.
I'm only a few minutes into it, but already I liked the deaf sister better.

the entire pilot is playing On Demand as part of the networks Fall Preview, actually ABC doenst have any pilots to show off but they have a 23 minute preview and a 23 minutes "ABC's new wednesday" that (hopefully) will feature some LOST clips.

Wasn't bad, though I wish they would've stuck with the deaf sister from the original pilot, would've been more of an interesting contrast to the bionic upgrades her older sis got.
And how much do I love Katee Sackhoff? She freaking rocked that episode, I love her playing evil. She was the best part of the episode. I hope that they give her a deeper character though throughout the course of the season than just "crazy evil badass superbitch".
I'll keep watching, I want to see where they go with all of this.
Jakester
09-27-2007, 09:20 AM
Katee told Fatboy & Cort that she's got a recurring role throughout the season, and if it gets picked up for a 2nd season, she'll be a regular.
There was also a reference to a past interview where she discussed her blowjob technique. Gotta find that.

Katee rocks. As for the show? I think it shows potential, but it didn't completely wow me. I think there are too many archetypal characters and themes so far. Chick gets involved in mysterious governmental program? Saw it in Alias. Chick raising whiny sister who has no idea of big sis's exceptional circumstances? Saw it in Buffy. Good son with potentially evil dad mixed up in the business? Last season's 24.
So it just didn't feel very original to me--and sure, it's a remake of an old show, but I don't think that's an excuse--just look at what they did with Battlestar Galactica. So I'll keep watching for now, and hopefully the good acting and production values will be applied to some better stories.

I wonder how many other BSGers are gona show up on the show. We've already got Katee and the guy who plays the Chief. Lol I wanna see a Caprica Cylon vs. Evil Bionic Woman vs. Good Bionic Woman throw down. C'mon, you all know you wanna see Starbuck take her down, who says it has to be on BSG? :D

I watched it, and I enjoyed it well enough. Now that they have the origin story out of the way, I hope they will do something a little more interesting and original with the plot.

Yeah, me too...like a lesbo scene between Ryan and Sackhoff.

Well this show seems to be pretty popular so far. I actually liked the new sister compared to the deaf one. It created a little more dialog abd could possibly give more rebelious state to the sister. I cant wait to see some more episodes.

I like the new take on the series (what is it the producers have with remaking 70s sci-fi shows though? What's next, Space 2099?). Ryan is hot but needs to put more feeling into the role. Sometimes she manages it but other times she comes on as too emotionless for someone going through all this crap. Maybe it's the Brit in her? Sackhoff, though is incredible! And yummy. Ferrer does an excellent job as the boss. I like the Oedipal thing going on between the two Drs. Frankenstein (although I understand the son prefers to pronounce his name Frahnkensteen. )
Oh and the younger sister needs to be spanked.

I liked the idea, but I'm sorry, but it was totally unbelievable. Not the bionic stuff, I understand that IT'S unbelievable. I mean Sommers' character.
I'm a bartender with a bratty sister that I'm forced to raise on my own.
I get pregnant and my boyfriend wants to marry me.
I get into a horrific accident.
I lose my legs, an arm, an eye, an ear, and MY BABY!
I become a bionic freak because my boyfriend lied to me about what he does.
Some weirdo woman wants to kill me.
Some guy wants me to start playing by their rules because they put their hardware into me against my will.
Yeah, I'm ok with it all. Let's start kicking ass.
Meh. But I'll keep watching for a bit more.

Again...I liked deaf sister better than bratty hacker sister. She was a bit bratty, too, but it was certainly easier to sympathise with her.

It was cheesy, contrived and predictable at times but it was just good enough that I'll give it a handful more episodes before I rule on it. If those are of improving quality, I'll probably give it a season.

Was that Battlestar Galactica playing on the TV in the deserted house?
KingVoyeur
10-08-2007, 07:22 AM
Yes it was. I wonder if they're gonna stick a little BSG in every episode? They did it in the first ep too by having a cameo with that guy who plays the Chief Engineer.

The second episode was pretty disappointing. I'm hoping that this weeks is better. I don't want Michelle Ryan to disappoint me.

I thought the second episode was a considerable improvement, mostly because Isaiah Washington is so good, and the guy they killed off is so bad.

I didn't mind killed off guy, and Washington would be better if he liked gay people.

I was shocked when they killed off Killed Off guy. I thought there were plenty of places they could go with the relationship dynamic in general but also the guilt dynamic and the fact that he would either still be working for Wolf Creek tenuously and at odds with management or he would secretly be the #1 target. They could have done a great storyline where Jamie is led to someone who is a threat to the very fabric of the country and it turns out to be him. She's confused how he could be so much a threat and they twist things around to convince her, etc.

Besides, Killed Off guy was cute!
They should have killed off the sister. She's damn annoying. Plus, for all Jaime says about "I have to be home evenings and weekends," she's out kicking ass at night anyway.

Exactly, Sicks. It was rich with possibilities. Oh well.
Jakester

Ryan was much improved. Sackhoff is amazing.
The story is still uneven -- it's as if they decided to completely change the story, and are trying to figure out how to do that. I know that Katmis is now the showrunner, and the other two have left, so that may have something to do with it, but I hope it gets ironed out soon because it's making the show uneven.
Also, Washington's fight with Ryan was pretty lame to begin with, especially compared to the one immediately preceding it, and if "the animal" had come out, his jaw would have been removed from his skull. I'm not digging Washington's character. At all.

You know, if they decided to go ahead and kill off Jaimie Sommers and make the whole show about Sara Corves (sp?), I would be completely fine with that. I think Ryan's an ok actor, I'm just not sure I like her in this role yet (the writing isn't really helping either). Sackhoff, on the other hand, is freaking AWESOME! She totally steals every scene she's in. Her character is way more interesting than Sommers, and besides, they could still call it Bionic Woman, just not have it focus on the same woman.

Have you been listening to Cort and Fatboy, KV? I tend to agree, although I'd prefer a nice duo, I think.

The writing is just not cutting it. And it seems like I've missed something between shows. How is she still wanting to help Sarah and yet she killed off her fiance and baby?
Oh, and "Bring it, Bitch" was (Buffy - Whedon) / Aliens * awful

According to Ausiello, Bionic Woman is getting a two episode reboot in December or early January. Wow. I mean, it needs it, but....wow. Five episodes in, and it's getting a reboot?!

I hope they ditch the bratty harpy sister. I mean, one week there's this big blowup because Jaime is lying to her sister about traveling for work, and then the next week she's spending a week on campus in a dorm room and that's no problem? It's stupid.

The writers strike killed this show, they were bringing out new drafts of the scripts as they were shooting in a desperate attempt to make it not suck.
They've packed up and I doubt production will resume after the strike. It was an easy out for the producers, so I expect they will take it.
