There are not a lot of movies that offer good music that i could listen to on a daily basis. But there are exceptions. I am also not a big soundtrack collector unless, like i said, the movie can offer a good musical influence on the film that i enjoy.

The first two films that came to mind when i started this was The Fifth Element and Gladiator.

Now, Gladiator had some really good music composed by Lisa Gerrard
Hans Zimmer. Almost the entire album i could listen to while reading a book, good music on Lisa and Hans' part.

The Fifth Element; one of the things i think that made this movie so enjoyable WAS the music. From the chase scene with Korben and the cops, which had a funk beat to it, to the serious parts with Leeloo and her being created into human. Hell, they even created a opera like song, from scratch with alien lyrics thrown in it! This album is by far, my favorite soundtrack of all time. I have to give a bid nod to Eric Serra in creating a wonderful soundtrack.

Ennio Morricone's score for "The Mission" is one I can listen to over and over again. I love the use of tribal instruments and rhythms that give it a unique flavor.

Of course, I have the complete 2-disc recordings of John Williams's scores for "Star Wars" and "The Empire Strikes Back." I never tire of the latter's last section, and will frequently recite "Luke! It's a trap! It's a trap!" at the key musical passage.

I love Howard Shore's soundtrack for "The Lord of the Rings," and need to get the version with the complete recordings. There's not much, even orchestrally, that can match his music for "The Lighting of the Beacons" in ROTK.

I have varying tastes in soundtracks.

I have the box set of the Star Wars OT released about 13 years ago with the extra disk which contained the male choral bit that accompanied Luke's attack on Vader in Jedi. Ffffing Fantastic.

Then I can switch it up to the Akira soundtrack. Some of that driving Eastern drum and wind instrument arrangements are perfect.

David Arnold's ID4 soundtrack rocked my world 11 years ago.

James Horner has some great work out there, but he gets repetitive with his themes. Good example of some of his best work is "Legends of the Fall"

Snuffy Walden's "The Stand" soundtrack is awesome.

"Midnight Run", Danny Elfman.

Most John Williams stuff.

Currently a major fan of both Brian Tyler and John Powell. The latter's "Bourne Supremacy" music has to be one of the most propulsive action/thriller scores of recent years.

Right now I'm alternating between listening to Hans Zimmer's "At World's End" score and Gabriel Yared's rejected "Troy" music.

There's a lot for me. My favorite all-time is Peter Gabriel's music for "The Last Temptation Of Christ". A close second would be John Corigliano's music for "Altered States". Beyond that, there's a bunch. I like Danny Elfman, Thomas Newman, and Howard Shore. I've recently gotten hooked on John Debney's score for (seriously) "Cutthroat Island".

Bubba Ho-Tep was an excellent movie and the soundtrack was very impressive. Good choice.

My first thought when I saw this thread was Peter Gabriel's The Passion (a companion piece to the soundtrack).

I liked Danny Elfman's original Batman score and I still play The Crow by Graeme Revell frequently.

The main theme in Platoon....The music set the mood for that whole depressing, but good, movie..

The Godfather
Jaws
Titanic (Not the celine dion song, that actually annoyed the shit out of me, but the music that was in the movie was good.)
Halloween (Just about every John Carpenter flick, where he does the music, I love...the whole 80's era beat, fits all his films perfectly)
Forrest Gump
Boogie Nights
