Since we have a brand new forum dedicated to movie trailers, I thought it might be fun to talk about our favorites. Talk about your favorite teasers/trailers, and why you like them so much. If the trailer exists on the web, feel free to share the link (or even embed it here).
So without further ado, what are your favorite trailers?

One of my favorite trailers is the theatrical trailer for LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring. It did a great job of showing you everything you needed to know about the story without revealing everything. If you were familiar with the book, it got you excited to see the characters come to life. If you weren't familiar with the book, it gave an exciting glimpse into Tolkien's magical world. The superb editing and great music give it a ton of energy that is hard not to get swept up in. In short, this trailer gives you chills. This is why I think it is one of the best trailers ever made.

I remember seeing the Star Wars: Episode 1 trailer for the first time and thinking "Jesus I love you but please don't come back before I get to see this!" The trailer was better than the movie...

The trailer for Grindhouse got me really pumped up to see it. Very, very good movie by the way.

Very true. I remember seeing the trailers for Phantom Menace and getting very excited. I like the movie, but I don't think anything could have lived up to the expectations people had for it. It has a very good trailers though.

One of my favorites was the first teaser for X-Men. Being practically a life-long fan I was dancing in my chair and giggling like a little school girl. :D
I also remember cussing quite loudly in 28 Days Later when the trailer for Underworld came on. Not only did it pump me up for the movie, but the friggin heroine, Selene, and the city looked a lot like a comic book concept I had been working on and now couldn't use 'cuz I'd get sued. I hate when that happens.

The Star Wars trailer was pretty impressive. I remember downloading it onto my dads computer and my brother and I watching it over and over again.
But this movie, Alien 4, had a really good trailer. The girl singing in the beginning and the music that was composed on the last second for Aliens makes you really want to see this film. When this movie came out i was really, really getting into the trilogy and had to watch all of them just before watching the film.
It must be a ritual, that if you are going to go see a movie that is a sequal or trilogy, you must watch the first ones of fear of missing something that they mention in the new one. Ex: Star Wars, Alien and even the PotC movies.

The Matrix preview was pretty impressive. No one had seen a movie like this before so when it came out, almost everyone i knew was pumped to go see this movie and it was not dissapointing at all!

While I'm here, I might as well post another of my favorite trailers. I remember everybody saying the first PotC movie was going to suck. I watched this trailer and thought they were all nuts.

That PotC trailer used the same music that this trailer for The Mask of Zorro did, which is probably a big part of what got me pumped up for both films. Does anyone know where that music is from? I'd love to have a copy of it.

Oooh. That's another good trailer. :D
The music you are looking for is a track called "Drop Zone" by Hans Zimmer. It is from a movie starring Wesley Snipes, also called Drop Zone. If you ever want to know what music is in a trailer, look it up at www.soundtrack.net/trailers

Hehe thanks! I actually went and found it after I posted that. Thanks for the head's up on that website though, I'm gonna be using that a lot.
That music is one of the few music cues that wind up being perfect for trailers, along with the Dragonheart theme, the ship exploding music from Alien, and that music from The Two Towers.

I always liked this one for the Cowboy Bebop movie.
That's a good trailer, and the movie is pretty damn good as well. It has some really stellar animation sequences in it. The stuff from the opening titles (part of which is the beginning of this trailer) is subtle but especially impressive.

I'd like to see you dig out your favorite trailers, may they be hilarious, full of nostalgia from some old films, or just plain bad-ass trailers that you remember from back in the day.
This is possibly one of the funniest 80s trailers ever put together from a bad movie.

Sorry for the thread but I was simply so very excited about Gymkata that I did not think of looking for an older thread. I simply could never resist the call of "when gymnastics and karate are fused the combustion becomes an explosion!" GYMKATA!
I really like the trailer for an indie flick called The Other Side of Paradise. Request a screening if it's not coming to your town.
