Here's (http://movies.aol.com/movie/surfs-up/20497/main) the latest trailer for what looks to be a pretty cool animated flick.

I wasn't too interested in this until these latest trailers came out. I'm still looking forward to Ratatouille more than Surf's Up, but it looks like it could be good.

Strider, the director was at WonderCon talking about this, and he was saying that they did motion capture on the cameras they used for the animation. They did it that way so it looks more like a handheld camera documentary than the normal camera pans in most 3D movies.

AND the wave animations and water animations are seriously better than anything I've seen out in the business right now.

Most definitely. The water looks amazingly great. The quality of the models, textures, and lighting is definitely top notch. I really love the short glimpse in the trailer we get of lava (in a cave?).

I just remember being REALLY turned off by the teaser for this. It was playing up that this was an " amazing true story", and it didn't look like anything special. These new trailers and commercials play that down and focus more on the humor.

I wonder how they did the cameras as motion capture...I bet they had a roughly staged scene with a general camera position, and then they mapped the movement of the motion cature onto it, while monitoring a virtual "camera feed".

I wasn't interested in this in the slightest but then Diedrich Bader shows up to save the day. Huzzah!

Bader's great voice work still won't get my butt in a seat for this flick.
