Okay...this one opens up on March 3rd, a full two weeks before V for Vendetta. It's written and directed by the same guy who wrote an directed Equilibrium, Kurt Wimmer. I'm very much looking forward to this one.

Here's a 30 sec. clip from the movie:

I'm also excited about this one, cause Milla Jovovich is one of my favorite actresses, I just wish they wouldn't keep type-casting her! Give her more stuff like "Dummy", hell even more parts like the one she had in Zoolander. I'll definitely be there on opening night for Ultraviolet, it looks like it's gonna be the movie Aeon Flux should have been.

I've seen the commercials and stuff, and I admit, it's starting to look like it might be a kick-ass movie.

This movie looks awesome and I can't wait to check it out. Nothing like action packed movies with swords.

Definitely looks kick-ass, and with Milla, the odds are pretty good that there'll be a snatch shot or two.

I agree. It looks like the writer(s) took the plot of the Blade trilogy and upped the level a bit.

We could only hope Jakester...we could only hope

Unlikely. It's rated PG-13.

Maybe there'll be an unrated DVD...

Yeah, this movie looks fricken sweet.

I didn't know its from the writer/director of Equilibrium. That makes me want to see it even more...

And while I don't normally like the skinny model types, Milla is most definately smokin HOT.

So I saw this one in a matinee on Sat.

It's a far cry from Equilibrium, but it does have its moments. Wimmer filmed the action sequences quite a bit differently than he did with Equilibrium, so we (unfortunately) get the kinetic camera movements that have beome popular with most action movies as of late.

The story is fairly light (in other words, it doesn't get in the way of the action), and the F/X and cool prop ideas are really what take center stage in this flick. Another thing that I really liked, Wimmer set this up to look like a comic book. He brightened up colors, oversaturated faces, and added roto artists to make people look almost like they had outlines around them like comic book characters do.

Rating: Matinee for the kick ass gravity defying motorcycle/helicopter chase scene. Otherwise, rental.

<---- is so sick of Mila Jovovich starring in crappy video game adaptations that he won't even see this one.

Um...this wasn't a videogame adaptation (even though it played like one). After I posted my review here, I read a review over at joblo.com. Seems that Miramax took the movie from Wimmer and did a nice hack job on the editing.

That's why Wimmer hasn't talked about the movie in months.

I guess we'll get to see the real version of this movie (if) when the director's cut eventually hits dvd.

My bad. I had heard something about this being a VG adaptation but apparently the source on that info was wrong. At any rate, I'm tired of Mila Jovovich starring in shitty movies.

I thought the movie was pretty good with some really excellent fight scenes. Some of the story in the movie was weird like they tried to pack too much of the story from the comic book into one movie. The motorcycle scene was cool except that they had nowhere near enough money to make the CGI work. It looked pretty bad but I really dug the movie overall. The final fight with the flaming swords was pretty badass.

My biggest problem with the movie is that they didn't explain all of the powers that the hemophages (vampires) had. I have an idea of what they were capable of but I'm not completely sure.

It also seems like they tried to put in too many twists in the plot which seem fine at first but when you think about it afterwards some of them don't make sense. Some of the other twists were pretty obvious the whole way through.

I still liked the movie.
