Eurogamer has done an interview with Uwe Boll, who is blaming game
companies for the bad showings his movies do, here is a brief excerpt
from the article, the link to the article will follow:

"Uwe Boll is fed up. He's fed up with people slating his films on the
Internet, mainly. He's also fed up with Hollywood producers who won't
take movies based on videogames seriously. And perhaps most
worryingly, at least in terms of how the rest of this interview is
likely to pan out, he's fed up with the person who's interviewing him.

"The dangerous thing right now is that a lot of people bash me without
thinking about the movies. It's fashionable to hit on Uwe Boll, and
this is what I don't get. And I don't get why this comes so harshly
from the games press," Boll says."

My god, I actually agree with Uwe Bol on something. Someone please shoot me in the head.

Two major game-to-movies come to mind, that Hollywood seems to have taken seriously, the soon to be released "Silent Hill", and then eventually "Halo".

Yeah. Silent Hill looks like it just might be "The One" when it comes to videogame movies. If its half as creepy as the games themselves, it'll make 100 million easy.

I think it has to do with the fact that Sony Pictures is handling the production on Silent Hill. I think that if Sony were to produce any game based on a franchise found on a Sony console, they have a vested interest in making sure the movie measures up to the fans and general movie-viewing audiences since a good movie can only bring more fans to the game.

If he's so pissed off about the crappy quality of the narratives in video games maybe he should choose better video games to base his movies off of. Jesus H. Christ!

Well, BloodRayne has a pretty good story behind it. And its the filmakers job to take the basic premise behind a game franchise and turn it into something suitable for cinema. Videogame designers are just trying to make fun games. Two artforms with completely different approach there Mr. Boll....

I agree, however, recent video games are trying to reach the level of cinema with engaging characters, stories, and even soundtracks. I know this isn't the greatest example, but just look at the Enter the Matrix game. They actually created movie scenes to be a part of the storyline. Boll should just shut the hell up and quit trying to pass the buck.

I generally try to be sympathetic to filmmakers, given the amount of effort it takes to get a film made and into theaters, but I have none for Uwe Boll. All of the films he has made that I've seen are poorly directed. He should step away from the director's chair for the good of all filmdom.

I mean, have you seen "Alone in the Dark?" How much worse can a movie be? The most laughable moment in that film, and there are many, is when Chistian Slater's character goes back to his orphanage and greets the sister there like a long lost mom. I mean this is a woman who sold him to the government to be experimented on. She ain't his friend! Just ludicrous.
