Has anybody seen or heard about the "Joker" dollar bills floating around? I think there is a web site on them?

Yeah, what's up with that Tri-monthly Amazing Spider-man thing? Are they really cancelling Sensational and Friendly Neighborhood? I've been watching the coverage on G4, but they're mainly concentrating on the movie stuff. I thought this was COMIC-Con, not MOVIE-Con.

Yeah man that was announced at wizardworld philly back in may. Sensational and Friendly Neighborhood are done with One More day, and Amazing would be the only Spider-book.
Time to update the top post....

I'm glad to hear that the Eternals are getting an ongoing. I liked last year's mini by Gaiman and I'd like to see where they go from there.

Anybody actually there? I've got a friend who did Europe, then flew back and is conning it up. She was complaining on how hard it was to shop for me... she's in a bastion of nerd-dom, how hard can it be...

I don't mind posting up a few, but I don't wanna hog up all the picture glory :) Have you ever seen those "human statue" people who get in some pose and just hold it for a really long time....and you look at them....and you stare at them.....and they don't move even one eyelash.....and you sometimes can't figure out if they are real or not? Well, thats what I thought when I saw these two....

It was, of course, the guns that attracted me ....(you were thinking something else maybe???) The Ray Guns....those futuristic disintegrator fire-arms that they were carrying. They were some of the coolest items I saw at the whole show, and for a measly $690 apiece....they were not out of reach. BTW....after staring for a couple of minutes (along with a hundred other people)...I realised....these were "NOT" real people. The clothes were real....the leather was real.....the guns were real metal......but when I touched the ladies leg.........even though it was soft rubber latex of some kind, and felt like flesh....it was cold. Still amazing though. The guys face was fantastic!!! The guns were even MORE fantastic!!!!!

These guns grabbed my imagination. Something about them just reeked of uniqueness. And with names like...MANMELTER 3600...GOLIATHON 83....and F.M.O.M. Wave Disrupter Gun....I wanted one bad. Still...$690 doesn't just grow on trees at my house, and I managed to keep my wallet (and my VISA card) in my pocket. Heres the weta New Zealand ray gun home page. Check out the little advertising movie they show. The part where he shoots the horse is a crack up.

"this duck's got style!"
Sometimes I would wear the hat with my Elvis shades and I got a ton of compliments.

Mac, I gotta say that you have just about the most well-developed sense of humor and thickest skin to go along with it that I've ever seen. From pretty much anyone. I can't imagine many self-described devout Christians taking a picture with the Buddy Christ.
You freaking RULE!

actually false alarm... my friend Fred had HIS picture taken with Buddy Christ at Wondercon 2005 (I was the one BEHIND the camera...) well every little bit helps I suppose, myself I wouldnt have any qualms about having my picture taken with Buddy Christ but I'd HAVE to be wearing my yellow duck hat and getting him to pimp my comics.. LOL!

I've toyed with the idea of getting a small press table labled "FRIENDS OF MANIA.COM" so we would all have a meeting place instead of being hap-hazardly thrown into a sea of people at random, but I dont know if I'd be allowed to use the name MANIA at the ComicCon since I dont officially do anything with the site.
maybe we could convince darkjedi or some of the other mods to do the table thing, for promotion (if it even needs it? LOL!) it would give us a meeting place.

Are those kind of tables free Kracky? I know the regular dealers tables are pretty expensive.....I thought I heard $1200 but I'm not sure.

nothing is free at ComicCon... NOTHING (except my PRO badge... which is free if i get my application in early enough) but the table I was reffering to isnt $1200 (which sounds about right for a regular dealers table, although i think they offer lower priced tables too)
tables in the Small Press Area were $350 this year and will be even higher next year (every year they raise their stupid prices) I usually split one with my buddy, but he likes going solo so currently I just get a 2nd exibitors badge from his table and get in free and work his table when he isnt there.
I think a FRIENDS OF MANIA table in the small press would 1) provide a meeting place for forumers to gather and meet and hang out and bullshit and 2) create extra publicity and awareness for the site.. hell, theres might be people coming to the SDCC that formerly posted in the old cinescape forums that dont come around anymore... having a centralized gathering spot might unite the forumers.
