So, if you guys have not read the report on the main site, about another Friday the 13th or even interested, then check it out.

It seems that they do not know if it is a remake, re-imaging or another installment. I guess for awhile there, the company was going to do a whole new take on the franchise...but it seems like that dwindled away...

It depends on what they do with this character....After the 1st one it seems that just got stupid...Fun to watch, but that is it....and that can get boring.

I personally would have prefered another Nightmare On Elm St. movie then this! Bring Freddy back!!

I consider Jason dead ,after Jason X
I really hoping for Hollywood strike. Maybe it would shake up,
the status quo/

I would not mind them remaking Friday the 13th the original. It had a good story and stood on its own...without Jason!

Depending on what goes on with this, I might still be interested...

Do what they did for "Halloween" and make a movie about his origins. Add as much female nudity and sex as possible. Make the death scenes gory. However, don't mix the two. I want a guilt-free woody without being disturbed.

 .....Good point...

For me, this was a series that was not that great. So, by remaking it or re-imaging, I think they would be doing this franchise a favor....They ARE guilty pleasures, but I would still like to see an actual story to it, other then....Oh, wait....Who am I kidding, what Bark said!:D

could be difficult, Paramount owns the title to Friday the 13th, while New Line owns the character Jason... which is why the series switched to Jason X and Jason goes to Hell...
and after Jason X, who cares about continuity, right? just do ONE GOOD slasher flick and call it Jason 11 or Friday the 13th part XI or something, ditch the continuity... this series never had any anyway. Get Jason back on earth and at Camp Crystal Lake and do it again... but do it RIGHT this time.
oh... Jason takes Manhatten has some wonderful shots of Toronto. LOL!

All i really care about is that FINALLY this series will have 13 movies (hopefully all called Friday the 13th but who knows) its getting REALLY REALLY close (dont count Freddy vs Jason as an official Jason flick as its a separate entity)

I mean... somebody could come along and film three sequels back to back and we'd have 13 movies for Jason...

same old stuff I watched too many movies over the years
and the slasher flim, like John Carpenter said; is dead.
I want something new , dammint! not recycle, rehash , and repackage.

I would not mind a WHOLE NEW take on the Jason character and his Mom. I really like the first one and the whole backstory, but found it really cheesy...Hell, it WAS and 80's flick....But I think a whole new take on the first one would be good, and without Jason....AND then do a completely seperate Jason film...

The problem with the original film is that I see the death scenes coming from a mile away. I guess audiences weren't as jaded and "experienced" with the genre then.

Too many re-makes! How about some fresh material folks?
The only Horror series I would like to see expand is Evil Dead. Bigger budget and scary this time

hell, I'd settle for a two disk DVD special collectors edition of P.J.'s Dead Alive since the only thing the damn disk has on it was a hidden trailer for Tommyknockers

So, if you have not read the new report about the 'remake' of Friday the 13th on the main page, I suggest checking it out.

Okay, so a earlier script was turned in to New Line which did not have Jason in it and was about his mom....Like the original. New Line threw that script out and hired the guys who did Freddy vs Jason to rewrite the script to have Jason apart of it...WTF!!

I really liked the first one and never cared for the others. I would have liked to have seen the mom come back and redo how Jason got his start....Instead, they want to just go with him instead of the psychotic mother....Hey, it could work, but I am not sure why they bother to call this a remake....It clearly is not. Like DJ said on the comments page...Just call it a re-imaging and not a remake!

Someon also made a comment about having another Nightmare on Elm. St. movie in which I would be excited to see. I think it would be pretty cool to see Freddy back at it again like the first couple of movies.

So, any thoughts?

heres the real deal, GD, NEW LINE CINEMA doesnt own the rights to the TITLE "FRIDAY THE 13TH"... those TITLE rights are still owned by Paramount.
New Line owns the title JASON... hence the first New Line movie featuring Jason was Jason Goes to Hell

so this news article makes sense actually, how can New Line remake Friday the 13th if they call their franchise Jason, if it doesnt actually HAVE Jason in it? They cant.

but c'mon... every once in a while, in Marvel and DC universe, they have a book that retells the origin of their characters... Spiderman has been told many times over, these are not "REMAKES" they are simply retellings or flashbacks and nothing more.

retelling Jason's origin again, and misrepresenting the original facts (IE: no mom as the Killer, no Shrine) is human nature to not get all the facts right... kinda like that episode of X-Files where various characters all tell a slightly different version of their accounts of an Alien Abduction.. no one story is correct.

also giving this position, nobody from the original "Friday the 13th" actually survived, so naturally any account of the events of F:13th part one would be muddled, inaccurate and not correct. Past down from parent to child and into the next generation.. those facts become increasingly more and more distorted. (kinda like the history of the Jason franchise...LOL!)

so this retelling is like the children of the older generation, retelling an origin they only know very little about in the first place, and is all based on second hand campfire stories and rumor... since no actual witnesses survived.

Naturally...WE KNOW what really went down.. WE KNOW about the mother being the psychopath... WE KNOW about the Shrine... but now these 4th generation kids are about to retell a story that we already know by heart... it will be funny to see them get their facts wrong...

BITE THINE TOUNGE JOHN! I wont have blasphemy in these threads. LOL!
(and go watch Evil Dead II, bigger budget and scarier... lol)

anyway why not remake Fulci's Zombie (AKA Zombi 2) or From Beyond or Suspiria or HP Lovecraft's The Beyond?

Remake "Humanoids from the Deep" and have the fishmen get it on with hot, naked women. :)
