I'm excited they are re-airing the episode. It's one of the best the show has ever done. I remember watching it in NOLA with my roommates and all three of us saying "What the fuck?" in unison when the guy got sucked into the engine... followed by me going "that was wicked cool!"

That was probably my favorite moment from the first show, the scene which just happened before the 20 minute mark commmercial break.

Night time...things are looking almost sane(as much as that can be in the situation anyway)..........fires are going.....and all of a sudden trees start shivering and falling away and some freaky noises are coming out toward them.

I saw the lovable sock puppet replying while the show was still on....Don't know what happened.

He must have got lost.

I watched it over again last night. What bothered me was the "monster". Black smoke and/or polar bears, don't knock down trees and sound like dinosaurs. I assume, if the show hadn't been popular, they would have taken it in another direction. Since the show was a massive hit and guaranteed a second season, they had to tone down the monster talk.

Perhaps they'll go there again, but I kinda doubt it.

Perhaps the monster has some variability depending on the nature of the circumstances. It was said, especially by the French Woman, that it was a security system....

Right, and some people have speculated that the entire island is man-made, which means that the "monster" could be the island itself trying to scare its inhabitants.

BTW, The Onion did a hilarious bit on the new Smoke Monster spin-off which transports him off the island and to Chicago where he works as a sports DJ.
