Everyone bitches about these classics being remade ( I being one of them), so I was wondering what movies YOU would like to see remade.
So, if you had the money, or could write the script....What would you remake?

You know, as much as I really like Phantasm. I think it should be updated and only if Don Coscarelli will come back to do it. I mean, it was good for its time and still hold up, but I think he could go back and make it more!! I wanted to know more about the white room and the place where those wicked little people came from.

I am not sure if this would have to go under 'remakes' but I would like to see another Beavis and Butthead movie!! The first one is hilarious!!

I wanna see a remake of Krull. The concepts were cool, but it needed something more....

Good pick! I really liked that movie as a kid...But seemed to have dwindled away from my interests later... I always liked the concept of those horses they had to catch. The hoses feet were on fire? and could fly....Awesome!
I would not mind someone remaking Silver Bullet. That could be done so much better...

I actually almost suggested that one. I figure its only a matter of time, though.

Honestly, I have not. I looked it up on IMDB and it actually sounds interesting. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee...I am down!
I was thinking of Creature From the Black Lagoon. I really like the original and I think the story could be updated. If done correctly this movie could be very, very good!

Rollercoaster. Look that one up, too.
It had an interesting premise but suffered in production value and some writing.
That and Timothy Bottoms just reminds me too much of GW
It's still good IMO because of the 4 years I worked in the theme park biz.

The new Hellraiser as featured on the Mania home page, looks like it could have possibilities. I like the original - because it's original. The sequels are a let down.

The sequal did not bother me at all, but after that they just got really, fucking stupid!! Which sucks because the whole concept of the Cenobites, are interesting and new.

Clive Barkers Nightbreed not because it needs it, but because theres no way a direct sequel is even possible seventeen years after the fact. Remaking Nightbreed as Cabal in order to make Nightbreed: Cabal 2 and 3 would be my vote.
for the exact same reason, remake (I shutter to even think what kind of flame war I will unleash on myself for suggesting this one) Buckaroo Banzai: Across the 8th Dimention there is no way in holy hell that anyone, at any time would be able to gather together the original cast for BB2:World Crime League and future BB sequels... as much as it pains me, Buckaroo needs recasting in order to move ahead with sequels.
Both of these movies dont NEED remakes, they need to be remade so that we can have sequels made... sequels that were never originally produced

Well, you will not be getting bashed by me, friend. Never got into BB....
Nightbreed is an awesome choice!! The movie is good, and I think it deserves to be updated!
Speaking of needing to be updated.....DUNE. For some reason I have always loved the films and the books. I think with todays CGI, it could be pulled off easily and hell, even make it into a trilogy with the rest of the books. I am honestly surprised that no one has jumped on this one yet...

Well, there was that miniseries a few years ago on SciFi that wasn't half-bad. The special effects weren't that hot, but it had an interesting visual style and it stuck a lot closer to the book than the original.
I do agree though, an updated theatrical release would be nice, so long as the producers stay the hell away and let the director do his thing. That's what ruined the first one. Just imagine if David Lynch had really been able to let loose on it, instead of getting screwed over by the studio.

Heres two for yah.......Time Bandits......I don't know why, but I just love that movie, it was sooo cool story wise, and the special affects weren't half bad for the time period it was made in.
Second...Night of the Comet....lol cheesy as hell but god I love end of the world movies, what can I say, and this is a unique enough Idea that if done right, could make a good main stream movie........minus the two dumb chics in this...unnnleeessss they found out they were all alone...and decided to experiment.......mmmmm.........that could be a good movie........porno but still good....lol, ok here yah go two remakes for it!!!....mainstream, and adult films!!.....im a bloody visionary!!!

Tobe Hooper's Lifeforce? this movie had everything from Mathilda May nakked THE WHOLE FREAKING TIME to Patrick Stuart getting his head blown off...
actually, no, no remake for Lifeforce... just release a 4.75 hour version where Mathilda May is nakked ALL THE FREAKIN TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(oh did I mention this movie has space vampires? they are kinda hard to notice with Mathilda May standing in front of them NAKKED FOR THE WHOLE FREAKING TIME!)
Ahh Life is good.

as for Dune, Peter berg is rumored for the Dune remake:
As everything else that gets published as "Rumor Control", this tidbit is to be treated strictly as a web provided rumor and not confirmed at this point. In fact, this rumor is coming from the same exact source that said Ratner is now handling the Escape From New York remake, a rumor which hasn't been confirmed by the studio or a press release to this day. Still, this rumor may be more positive for the fans..
In the recent past, Frank Herbert's grandson, Byron Merritt posted this at the DUNE forums:
“We're getting VERY close to a deal. Heard that news today,” he posted on Friday, following that up with, “Although only rumor, I've heard that "someone" at the studio wants Dune reallllly bad and has been a fan of the novel for "years." They're not saying who this is (and it might just be hype) but I'm holding out hope that whoever this might be is a big enough fan that he/she will do the book justice. Supposedly it's some director.”
This bit of information piqued the interests, negative or positive, of DUNE fans who wanted more after David Lynch's 84 version or the Sci-Fi 2000 mini-series adaptation. Still, the talk of a remake died down after this forum posting by his grandson and naught was heard for sometime. That time is now over, says Merrick's source at AICN. The rumor is "well-founded" (as he says it) that director Peter Berg (The Kingdom) wants to remake this sci-fi/fantasy classic and the studio shopping for it is Paramount. Berg is already stepping into the genre scene with his current production HANCOCK (aka John Hancock aka Tonight, He Comes) about a superhero who loses popularity from the public by being a drunk and general nuisance.

After I read Cabal and saw Nightbreed, I felt it would have made a great series. Just them moving on from that barn to finding a new home with Boone as their new leader had promise I thought.

Fastcar... it originally was ment as a trilogy but Morgan Creek dropped the ball and fucked over the advertizing. It still amazes me that Candyman and Hellraiser can both get sequels but Nightbreed drops off the radar and nobody picked up the rights to it.
and speaking of Clive... what about a remake of Rawhead Rex? Clive's original vision sucks and there was never any budget for creature efx...

I would LOVE a Nightbreed remake. I feel like that film really got lost... a lot of people I talk to don't even know what it is.
I really don't want to see Hellraiser remade. The original is one of my favorite horror films, if not my absolute favorite. I don't know.... I feel like that idea (the Cenobites) has been fucked with so much in the remakes, I don't want to see it screwed with even more.
ETA: that I'm REALLY not happy about a Hellraiser without Doug Bradley. I can't imagine anyone else as Pinhead.

anyone born after 1990 would think its an obscure direct to DVD title. Thats one reason nobody remembers it. Most times, with a popular movie, it will get reissued every few years on DVD in different formats (like Evil Dead) so that it stays in the publics eye... with Nightbreed how long have we had our bare bones disk? I think it was released on DVD in 2000 I think (the current going price is $5.20!) that means the disk is AT LEAST 7-10 years old, that says nobody cares enough about the movie to keep re-printing it.
also the original RAWHEAD REX DVD has been discontinued and is unavailable, not "curently unavailable"... most likely it will never resurface again on disk.
