Okay, this isn't about the first comic created. Rather a question. What was the first comic you ever bought?
The first comic I ever bought was Superman #22 (2nd series). I was about ten at the time, so I don't recall all the details of this issue, just that the cover was green with Superman wearing an Executioner's hood. He was holding a container with green kryptonite and pronouncing death on the unseen Trio of evil Kryptonians. If I remember correctly, Superman was on an alternate earth destroyed by General Zod and his cronies and he killed them with a green kryptonite that had no effect on him.
The first comic I bought for my collection was BAtman #436. It was the first part of Year Three and released at the same time as the first Batman movie. I was 14 at the time...*sigh*

My mom would buy comics for my brother, my sister and I, so we'd have Super Friends or Justice League comics that we owned collectively. I believe the first comic I myself personally owned was Amazing Spider-man #177 with Harry Osborn as the Green Goblin, though it wasn't until years later when I bought the follow up issues as back comics that I learned it wasn't actually Harry but his psychiatrist. The final comic in the story arc had Harry and his psychiatrist squaring off, both in Green Goblin gear.
I stopped collecting comics when I moved in the summer before the 7th grade, and the small town I found myself in didn't have a store that sold any. We did all subscribe for a year. My brother got The Incredible Hulk, my sister got The Fantastic Four, and I got The Amazing Spider-man. After that, I didn't get any comics until the summer after high school graduation when I found myself at a Casey's General Store in a neighboring town with a small group of comics for sale with the magazines. The first comic I bought there was The X-Men vs. The Avengers #4. I was disappointed that the two teams never actually fought in the comic, so I went back and bought Avengers Annual #16, where the Avengers had all been killed and were in Death's realm, which had been taken over by the Grandmaster. The Avengers challenged him to a game, so he split them up into teams and had them fight against a team he'd assembled from heroes and villians who'd died. Absolutely amazing comic, and my collection exploded from there.

I think mine was The Amazing SpiderMan #112.....Spidey Cops Out. There were a few others around that time. Maybe Sgt. Fury #96.....Dum Dum sees it Through was one I bought also. It was just about the time the 15 centers were changing to 20 cents and had the one big issue at 25 cents cuz it had more pages......

This first comic I ever bought was some Wolverine comic that had a picture of Wolverine's skeleton on it, claws and all, and I think it had something to do with him fighting (and being killed by?) the Hulk. That was back in like 6th grade though.
When I started seriously buying comics a few months ago, the first one I bought was Civil War #1. I'd been wanting to start collecting a while before that, I just didn't want to even try and jump into the middle of Infinite Crisis!

I have fond memories of my dad taking me to the Blue Front in Ann Arbor when I was in elementary school. Back then it specialized in newspapers and magazines from all over, and had a large comics section, and a huge candy shelf. Everything was on wooden shelves, and it was lit with regular incandescent light bulbs, so it felt like being in somebody's basement--very atmospheric. It was such a treat to go there, get a bubble gum rope and an issue of Spiderman or Superman. I didn't save any of my comics, so I don't remember which was my first, but I'd like to think it was a Spidey, since at the time we shared the same last name. I do remember having the first issue of Supergirl, but I didn't hang onto it, since comics collecting wasn't really big business back then.
Now the Blue Front is just a party store like any other. Boo hoo. But I still associate comics with childhood treats. Thanks for the nostalgic thread!

My first comic was either a Superman or a Spider-Man, and I got it when I was around 3 years old. Yeah, I was reading at that age. I started reading when I was a little older than a year and a half.

You know somethin.....before I ever even bought any comics, my dad brought me a book home from the library called......"The Great Comic Book Heroes" by Jules Pfifer. This was prob sometime in the mid 60's. Its an awesome book with reproductions of alot of the origin stories of the old time heros, like Batman, Superman, Captain America and Plastic Man. That book is what got me started on comics......a hobby that stayed with me for 30+ years.
