Hi all, just getting over a wonderful bout of a cold/flu thingie, had it for like a week or so now. I know, too early in the fall to get this sick but I must have picked it up when I was in Vancouver at the end of September.

Anyways, why the title of this thread... It seems that perhaps a dormant volcano near where I live might just be reawakening.

Earthquakes recorded near dormant volcano (http://www.princegeorgecitizen.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=99462&Itemid=239) and Quakes near Quesnel may signal lava flow (http://www.canada.com/vancouversun/story.html?id=56415a4f-c7a8-436d-b6e6-5d9725677422&k=64858).

Okay, seeings the people in those articles say it's exciting, perhaps they should live right near one. Yeesh. And I told my hubby years ago, what idiot would mine a dormant volcano for rock? I'm no volcanologist, but it seemed like a stupid thing to do, lifting weight off a volcano even if there hasn't been any activity for who knows how long.

Ah well, I do hope these are just a series of small quakes and nothing more. Hopefully things are much better where you guys are. Have a good morning. :)

That is scary, and fairly rare. The article said it had some activity about 7,000 years ago which is, geologically speaking, relatively recent.

Check your homeowner's policy. Mine used to cover damage related to volcano explosions and quakes, just not lava damage. Hopefully it will settle down.

And yes, I agree it is stupid to mine near an inactive volcano. Even extict volcanos have a chance of resurrecting, so just because it is inactive just means it's not working today. Big business gets away with murder everywhere, don't they?

Hope your cold gets better soon.
