Gerard Butler leaves the 'Escape From New York' Remake.

Butler escapes 'New York' remake (http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117975061.html?categoryid=13&cs=1)
Before they shot a frame of film, Gerard Butler escaped "Escape From New York," the remake of the John Carpenter film.

Right after his turn as the Spartan in "300," Butler made a deal to play Snake Plissken in a film bought at auction by New Line. He left for creative differences. New Line is persevering: studio has brought Jonathan Mostow in to rewrite, with an option to direct.

Butler just began production on Lakeshore's "Game," which Lionsgate will distribute. He'll next be seen starring in the Richard LaGravanese-directed "P.S., I Love You," the Guy Ritchie-directed "Rock N Rolla," and Fox-Walden's "Nim's Island."

You know, I'm glad he left the project. With all the news on this film lately, it was starting to look very bad. I wonder who'll be next in line to be Plissken.

And I wonder if 'Escape' will be like T3. :D

Dear God,

PLEASE kill Jonathan Mostow in a vicious car-meets-train scenario a la Final Destination.

John.

I agree. I think Len Wiseman was a ok choice, but bringing in this guy does not make me feel any better..In fact, worse!

Maybe...Just Maybe...They can get rid of all this SHIT and just do another Escape movie with Russel and Carpenter!...Oh, that would be a movie wish come true!!

In the end, I thought Escape from LA was compelling despite its 5 full-court swishes and Peter Fonda on a surfboard. The ending bitchslapped the EFNY ending by a country mile.

THANK YOU!!! I loved EFLA, I mean I thought it was just as good as the original. I DO NOT understand why this movie gets so much shit. It has a lot of memorable characters in it...That is what I am saying, BRING BACK CARPENTER AND RUSSEL!! DAMNIT!!!

As I've said before:

Escape from Earth, with Russelll as Snake must be made. I already have the last scene all story boarded. It goes like this: Snake escapes on a rocket into space with the Swedish Bikini Team just as the Earth blows up.

Then, the bikini team captain says "I guess it's up to us to repopulate civilation. You think you're "MAN" enough for the job. Well Snake are you "UP" to it?"

Snake answers "They don't call me "SNAKE" for nothing, baby! Giggidy-Giggidy-Goo!".
