Just back from the Outer Rim. Ok ... just back from Halifax. Wonderful visit with family except for that little Noreaster that blew in out of nowhere. Took a side trip to PEI to look up a long lost cousin. I think I saw Scotia base jumping from The Link.

That is a long, scary bridge. Is it as terrifying to drive across as it looks?

It's spectacular on a nice day but a little spooky if the wind is really whipping, especially in the middle of the span. Note the curve to accommodate wave action, current and the tide. During extreme wind, high sided vehicles like transports, cube vans etc., are not permitted to cross.

I don't need to get out some some creepy damn bridge, if that's what you're suggesting.

My fear of water keeps me from getting any more than knee deep in a pool. Driving 12km on a little bridge is a whole different kind of nightmare.

You know that it costs over 40 bucks to cross that thing, eh? And, if you're in a car you can't see shit, the embankment walls are too high. A few years ago a group of us stopped midway over just to get a better view of the ocean and within minutes the bridge cops were on top of us. The place inspires a lot of jumpers, evidently.

the one behind the San Diego Convention center is pretty cool too. it goes up really high and the span is very long... apparntly it goes to an island... I didnt know there was an island off the coast of California but apparantly there is one.

Catalina Island is off the coast of California. There is no bridge that can take you there.

Alcatraz Island, Angel Isand both in the bay area.
