I can't believe I'm going to say this. That was AWESOME! I assumed this was going to bomb. I was crazy wrong.

It does. I don't know what I expected, but I'm not sure that was it. It looks wild.

I am going to pass. I have seen what the movie is going to look like and I am not down with it...It is just not my type of movie and the only reason why I would go see it would be because the Wachoswki Brothers are doing it....But other then that, no way.

zerobro, it does appear cool... however thats the primary job of all movie trailers. Thats my point. I'm not making any preconceived opinions either way, good trailer... it did its job... I'm sold.

Two international trailers are up for Speed Racer, and they kick ass.
You can find them here (http://wbads-63.vo.llnwd.net/e1/wbol/uk/movies/speedracer/speed_racer_tlrf3_qt_700.mov) and here (http://wbads-63.vo.llnwd.net/e1/wbol/uk/movies/speedracer/speed_racer_tlrf4_qt_700.mov).

Before I click, does either trailer feature Racer X screaming "Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuun!!!"?

And now there's yet another trailer.... (http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/speedracer.html?showVideo=1)

This time you can see it in HD if you so choose. I think this looks like a great tongue-in-cheek kind of a movie. I'm definitely going to see it just for the color saturated visuals. If the movie has anything more than that, it'll be great, but I'm not expecting anything.

The visuals do look yummy--even the crowd scenes are dotted with bright greens, blues, reds, oranges. It could be fun, if it doesn't take itself too seriously.

The four trailers (including the teaser) that I've seen so far really make me think that the Wachowski's totally nailed the cartoon-come-to-life thing. It looks amazing. I just hope that the visuals can maintain a photoreal look as when things are obvious CGI, it can really take you out of the moment and destroy a scene, or even the entire movie (eg -- lost of moments in King Kong, and bits of the Burly-Brawl in Reloaded)).

So, if the FX are consistent, and the script doesn't suck, I think it'll be amazing. The cast is already uniformly awesome, so no worries there.

I really was not that impressed with the first trailer they released, kudos to you for posting those other too because they totally blew me away. I'm going to start queing at the "local" IMAX now.

The visuals are awesome, the cast look a lot like the animated characters unlike some other film adaptations.

Yeah, from the trailers, this thing looks visually stunning. It really does look like the cartoon come to life. Some things don't look completely realistic, but I'm fine with that as it's pretty obvious that this is sort of a hyper-real world, replete with car-fu. As long as the effects are consistent, I'm down with it.

The colors are like a candy store. Like a blend in animation and real life.
I think a lot of movies are going to be this way. Specially comic book or anime adaptations. Like 300 or Sin City / Part comic / animation and film.

Warren Beatty did this with Dick Tracy back in the 80's. Didn't have the rocket fuel that this one looks like it'll have, in its place were Steven Sondheim musical numbers.

Whether anyone likes that or not, it was very good movie. :p

During that period people were not use to see that kind of film yet.
I think if you came out with 300, 2 decades ago I don't think people would go and see it. Those VIDEOGAMISH Films (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxP7qOt5DkI) are getting popular now.

Now what they see on their CPU screens or game can be watched in a movie theatre, thus giving the gamer a new experience.

They had TRON where people didn't get what was happening and LAST STARFIGHTER back then?

Oh, I think if 300 screened in the 80's, people would have been AMAZED.

That's always been a guilty pleasure of a fantasy, to take a current movie, and the technology needed to present it, back in time to, say....at this point, 50 to 70 years, set the people of that time down and unleash it on them, in full CGI imagery and Surround Sound stereo and whatever else.

It'd be interesting to watch their physical reactions. :Mwahaha:

Smelling Salts and Ambulances should be standing by, perhaps

I am an artist, so I prefer the "stylistic" approach. Unfortunately, only a few filmmakers have gotten it right!

I watched Speedracer as a child, and even as an adult, I bought two DVD's. Its just stupidly fun, so my expectations aren't that high.
Its "Speedracer" not the "Godfather" after all!

My approach for this film would of been a little different. I would of made it 100% CGI. No need for "real" actors.

I agree, it's going to be another pop corn flick like IRON MAN (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxP7qOt5DkI), 300 and ULTRAVIOLET.

I hope to fuck it's not like Ultraviolet.
