its free for me, I'm a pro. i can take one or two freeloaders also.
I would really like to meet other Maniacs... and for that, dare i suggest Mania.com actually BUYS a table (to promote themselves) that we can ll congregate around and have it serve as a central meeting place.

by the way GD... the cheapest place to stay is the Motel 6 on Hotel Circle, thats where most of the cheap bastards sleep at night.

Well...NORMALLY, since we can not all be like you, buddy :D

How much would it cost?

I am almost positive that I will be going, just would like to know more about it before I start making more plans.

GD.. honestly I havent paid for SDCC since... well... uh... never. I think its something absurd like $75 bucks for the 4 day package but you can also buy single day passes for Saturday, Friday and Sunday if you choose to go the individual day route (God Forbid, say you want to got the San diego Zoo on one of the ComicCon days, you probably wouldnt want to pay for that day would you?) last summer they started something new, a "three day badge" (I assumed it was Friday Saturday and Sunday?) leaving out Thursday. I dont know what those cost.
http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci_reg.shtml and prices are expected to rise as the convention draws closer and closer... so get them NOW while they are cheap ($75 for 4 days is less than $25 per day which is what I'm assuming they'll raise the prices too eventually.
Oh one more thing... call them and call them again to MAKE DAMN SURE they have your badge waiting for you at the door (behind the retarded red vested door nazis) you dont want any fuck-ups when you get to San Diego in the Summer... trust me, fighting with fans and underpaid convention security door nazi's in 103 degree heat is NOT FUN.:D

check my website's "CONVENTION SCHEDULE" (on the Flash thing I created) and click on the top button on the top row (SDCC 08) since I took the time to link it.
also you're in Santa Rosa.... are you attending Wondercon (also known as SDCC jr. or SDCC lite) on Feb 23, 24,25? (its first before APE and SDCC) its closer and it doesnt cost as much.

Alright, thanks for all the info...I need to talk to the GF about a couple of things and as soon as I can figure some stuff out I will be purchasing the tickets for all 4 days....

So....why do you get in for free?...You got the hookups?

mckracken

nope.. its because I (supposidly) work inside the "industry" as I would assume Dark Jedi and others do as well for this website... seems they're definition of "Professional" artist ranges from comic book illustrators to animators to website designers and even into the media arena like reporters. Its pretty broad.

They tried cracking down on the underground comic creators, saying that books need to be distributed by Diamond in order to get your Pro status but nobody took them seriously, then they said that each year you needed a new book or product...so I switched to (flash) "animator" status... it takes longer and doesnt require "published proof" at the door. :D

yeah you better get tickets early.
They raising the prices to keep out the yuppie riff ,raff.
It's really for comic book fans only.
The SDDC is really place to whore out tv programs and movies
which is fine if it sci-fi and horror, related most time the it's not.
I went sci fi cons for years it gets old after while.
I never found any bargians at cons.. yes, there bootlegs
I say why buy bootlegs? when you can get them directly from friend.
Alot people say its not as good as you use be? I say go once"
just to see how it is.
I will never go SDDC . I rather waste my money on ebay or amazon.
I also can get bootlegs of mckraken stuff real cheap off ebay
J.K

admittedly its a con (for a fan) only worthy of attending once every 5 years or so, because not much really changes from year to year. I took 10 years off and the only real noticable difference was that the prices had raised, the people had shorter tempers and there was less in the goodie-bags at the door.

I can attend under pro status for free but if I had to pay, I'd go the Lavorius route and buy my swag off ebay or Amazon too.

so far I havent been bootlegged....yet.

When exactly is ComicCon this year? Us poor yokels who can't actually make it to San Diego will just have to watch it on G4, assuming they broadcast it again this year.

yes I'll definitly call the show live from both Wondercon (feb) and SDCC... it might only be me as I have a terrible time getting celebrities to believe that I'm actually live on the radio when I thrust a cellphone in their faces. LOL! its not like I have a microphone and a camera like other REAL reporters... HAHAHAHA!

YOUNG? who da F*** is YOUNG? I'm 38 now, ya peabrain. :D

I forgot to say thank you for running an hour over on Saturday night's recap show! You freakin rule!!!!

I am rather handsome not over weight, I know wash my own clothes
I like being clean water is not my enemy.
I never wear a two week old unwashed shirt, or concert from the Wham tour.
I am not bald, flithy or stupid.
Like I said I have been to numerous sci-fi cons being a fanboy
is no excuse to be flithy pig!

Lavorius, sometimes even for the most Hygiene minded, staying "fresh" down in San Diego is difficult. in 2004, the outside temperature hit 105 and people had to walk for blocks from the parking garages (not the underground Convention parking area either)
Lately though it seems a growing trend to get up at 4am (I kid you not) get to the convention center by 5am and ...wait...in...line to be the first ones in. Thats a little extreme if you ask me since all the crazy over the top nutjobs fill up the convention parking area and it hits its peak by 6am (an hour after opening) Hell we tried to get underground parking at 6:15am and were denied!!!
If you arrive at 7am you wont get underground parking on Saturday or Friday mornings, you'll be parked across the street in the overflow across from the Padres statium.
needless to say... 105 temps wearing any sort of latex or spandex, or any costume whatsoever will make you sweat like crazy ...unless you're like me and wear a Hawaiian shirt and shorts and look like you just stepped off the plane from Honolulu.

Well, you said there was a Motel 6 around the corner, yes?....Either way, it should be interesting to see what is going on for this year...AND as far as I know, I will be going, so we should meet up and all the good shit.

nobody wants to see me wear spandex...not even me. I'm a tourist... Hawaiian Shirt and shorts and camera around my neck...

oh and GD, I'll need your cell phone # sometime between now and the San Diego Convention (if I'm not working) although I usually am based in the small press area at the ReImagining Comic Art table (Greg Beda's booth if he buys a table) although it is not my table, I hang my hat there then go out roaming the floor.... are you attending Wondercon 08 also? I'm going to attempt to do a roving reporter for the Chaotic Radio for both Wondercon and SDCC ...if I'm not working that weekend.

I unfortunatley will not be attending Wondercon...I did not even know about it until you brought it up, but I as it stands now, I WILL be attending ComicCon....Even though I am not a Comic Book fan...really....I am mainly going for the expeirence and hopefully for the Sci-Fi and Horror aspects of it.

That and hopefully some good panels and lots of weird people walking around....AND some attractive ladies dressing in very little clothing! :eyebrow:
