Well...my original sensational ones crashed. So I'm subbing with a selected chilled bottle o' wine, trying out a new cheese dip recipe involving beer and a carefully chosen stack o' films.

I'm working! I get time and a half for closing New Year's Eve and more for opening New Year's Day, and since I'll be the only worker not drunk or hung over, they need me to prop up whoever's managing.

Wow ... my cheese dip will have bacon bits in it. Dr. Strangelove followed by a few episodes of Boston Legal (got the Season 3 DVD for Christmas.) Nothing like a simple plan.
N :)
I'm closing the bar starting tonight and every night thereafter through Wednesday. I just spent 2 hours putting food together for my drunks for New Year's Eve. (Yes, I have to put out my own snacks ). I'm hoping to catch a few hours of sleep on Thursday.

I'm working... but it's not going to be a huge night for camera purchases... then I'm probably going to go over to my girlfriends house and watch movies till midnight. Last year was Brick.

We're doing absolutely nothing. Nothing, that is, but meet up with some friends for dinner and then retreat home without them to watch a movie, or two if we have the time, followed by 30 seconds watching whatever TV show for the countdown. We'll probably be up until 1 or 2 watching another movie or whatever and sleep until 10.
Christmas Eve / Day are a marathon for us (30 hours straight of obligations, only 7 or 8 of which are to sleep and doing our own thing at home) and we just wanna tell everyone else to go screw for NYE.

We're flying from North Carolina to San Diego on New Years Day at 6:30 in the morning, so I will not be up to see the ball drop.

I have no plans for New Year's Eve, but I do plan to cook black-eyed peas, collard greens and pork chops on New Year's day. I was hoping to not have to work tomorrow, so that I could stay in Charlotte with my brother and his family a little longer, but that didn't work out. :( I won't get to see them again before the head back to England on Wednesday and I miss them already. :(:(
I'm going in to work this afternoon to set up the snacks. Then I get to go back and entertain all the drunks. :)

No plans whatsoever. Getting over a 24-hour flu that was pretty bad. Either way, New Year's Eve is just not my bag. Good luck with all the fuckin' drunks.

I'm having a totally low-key night. I'm staying in and having some wine with my roommates and another friend.
I have no desire to go into Times Square and be felt up by strangers - I can come here for that.

I get a total kick out of our NEw Years Tradition. It started way back when the 2 oldest were 3 and 5. they are now 10 and 8 and it gets better every year.
We do up a full party spread of snacks for dinner, cheese, crackers, summer sausage, fruits, olives, chips, pretzels, dips etc etc etc.
We watch the DVD's they got for Christmas, this year I belive will be Surfs Up and Click.
Then when 9pm rolls around, if the babies are still functional, right now that would be the 1 and 2 yr olds respectively, they get a prize. When 10pm rolls, the other 3 get a small prize, something dumb from the $1 store. 11pm if they are still functional garners them a slightly bigger prize and of course Midnight earns them them grand prize....not everyone has made it all the way every year and it gets damn funny at about 11:15-11:45 when they are fighting to keep their eyes open...hehe.
Happy New Year Eveyone!!

I need to start baking soon - but first, I must get pretty.. because right now.... scary.

Well, it'st now officially NY, as of 21 minutes ago. My dip was suprisingl good. Didn't do the beer/cheese dip recipe, did the seven layer lo fat dip instead. Very good.
Tall glass o' wine.
Movies: The Incredibles and Dogma.
Not bad.
Next year, I'll do NY in TX, so it's gonna rizzle.
Unless I'm deployed.
Then it's just me, a good book, and laying low.

I've been invited to a few things, but I'm staying in. As a former bartender, I had worked 7 consecutive NYE in a row. And I'm talking HUGE events with a couple thousand people. After that, you really don't feel like celebrating it.
I've got a new bottle of 1981 Gold Medal Winner Jack Daniels, some Ginger Ale, ice, food, movies, and an HDTV with surround sound. I think I'm all good.

We useusally hang out at our friends' house, or they come here, but this year, it's just us. Just put the boy to bed. Did a spot of work, and headin' up for some snacks and to play Disney Scene It....

Plans evolved from us alone to having 2 or 3 friends over back to us alone but with the neighbor's dog and the neighbor after midnight since his wife is at the hospital recovering from a C-section. A good time will be had by all, except the neighbor's wife, I'd imagine. ;)

Do you know how much hell I'd catch for not being at the hospital on new year's eve if the wife were recovering from a c-section? That's assuming we only had the one kid.

Nah. The plan (between them) was for him to leave the hospital at midnight and be back at 6 or 7am. She ended up wanting to pass out around 9:30 so we saw him around 10 and then he disappeared after 5 minutes or so to get a decent amount of sleep.

I suppose a good way to ring in the new year would be adult beverages, a few friends and a crap movie for some home MiSTing. Or a session with gaming buddies...
...then there's just rose, her five flangelical friends and some quality porn...

play Disney Scene It....
Two years ago that was our new years party. Playing Scene It. Only... we stopped paying attention and missed the countdown, so we used the little internal timer thing at 12:15 or something.
This year was Van Helsing. Wow that movie is bad... but so good.
It's deliciously bad. I'd watch it again.
My New Year's was boring. :( The boss didn't promote a party, so I got stuck putting out and cleaning up a shit load of food and ringing in the new year with 8 other people. Last night was pretty good, though. I force fed everyone that walked in the door.
