Sure - copying AND DISTRIBUTING is wrong, but simply copying onto your HD? Or burning a duplicate copy for your car?

Lock me up.

If you can't make copies of stuff that you already own, how can you make a mix tape?

From what I've read, the RIAA is even against the transfer to portable devices.

So basically if you want to use your Ipod or MP3 player, you have to purchase electronic versions of the songs, EVEN if you own the CD. So they are trying to get you to buy the song twice.

And they wonder why everybody steals music?

I say everyone should go make 10 back-up and personal use copies just so they have it everywhere they need it (without giving any away) and then send a message to the RIAA informing them of this. When the RIAA tries to press the issue in court, 10M people can push back on the basis of the Fair Use doctrine and related Supreme court decisions with regard to various media made in the 80's. They want a fucking war, we can give them a fucking war about this. Let's see them take on 10M lawsuits for libel, slander, malicious prosecution, etc.

Yeah, sorry. Bill claimed me first so, until he gets his buttsecks, you'll have to wait in line (which will be forever... sorry, Bill!).

I fucking hate the RIAA. No go cum-guzzling, viagra taking, fart sniffing, felch loving, ass-masters of jizz rags. Since going after people who don't buy music doesn't seem to be working, they start going after the people who actually pay for it. The music industry got so fucking greedy in the '80s and 90s and happily gouged the consumer, and the consumer bent over, lubed up, and took it. Then the rise of Napster and p2p gave the consumer a little opportunity for some payback; and it can be argued that it even helped some smaller bands gain a following. The industry whined, and whined, but did they lower their prices? Nooooo. Only after they were found guilty of price fixing did CD prices fall somewhat. Now they're looking to recoup their imaginary losses, resulting in no longer being allowed to ass-fuck their customers) by trying to come up with new ways to make you suck their cock while they shove a dildo in your ass at the same time and make you pay for it to boot.

God, I really fucking wish that these guys, and the greedy studio heads that are fucking over the WGA would get some horribly debilitating disease that would make their cocks fall off until they stop being so goddamned fucking greedy.

And they'll argue that they're "protecting the rights of their artists." Fuck you. You're protecting the right of your wife to buy a solid platinum dildo because you can't get it up without a little blue pill you fat fuck. You care fuck all for the artists in your "stable," except that they put money in your purse so you can travel to Thailand and fuck 10 year old boys.

Did I mention that I hate the RIAA?

lend it to anyone.

So, apparently, it is now illegal to lend CDs to your friends so that they can listen to them. I've just started buying music again, mostly because the quality of the downloads is lower then what I want to listen to.

Here's one for the RIAA, sue Apple. Sue Best Buy. Apple's iTunes and iPod products keep the pimply faced criminal masterminds enthusiastic about their evil plots. No more iPods how can mp3's be listened to. Hell, sue Karlheinz Brandenburg the name behind the mp3 format.

On a completly different note, I'm not sure who WOULDN'T want a platinum dildo. Hell, I'd want one just to say I've got one.
"Hey man, yeah check that out, it's a platinum dildo. Pretty cool, eh?"
It would go on the shelf next to my Mary Grilled-cheese

There really grand standing nothing more.
There is way to by pass copyright protection.
especially old cds, like my 80's collection, mine are the original japanese & german
pressed ones before USA rushed production on the cd.

Yes, yes it is. Actually, listening to that CD at all, without paying for it is illegal. You have to pay a listening fee.

Well, the RIAA is evil, but apparently, they're not completely stupid (yet) according to CNet (http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-9839897-7.html?tag=newsmap).

Again, they never came out and said it was legal. They left it open to come back later. There is no way to enforce that as a law. They know it and even though they consider it illegal, they picked their battle. The RIAA is evil and greedy and a meance to society.

Yes, I caught that as well. They simply left it as "we've never prosecuted someone for that," which doesn't say that they consider it legal. I agree with everything you said, Speedy.
