We have the -yt- tag now. I'm going to do the following, but I can't verify this works because my work blocks YouTube.

It works. Not sure if the trailer does, at least not for me. I don't get all worked up just at the sight of a spaceship under construction, even if it is the Enterprise.

Saw this with Cloverfield. the trailer looks good, I just saw a current picture of Leonard Nimoy on Yahoo and holy shit has he aged. He doesnt look good.

one word of caution, I hated Cloverfield... it doesnt bode well for Star Trek either.

What does one movie have to do with the other?

This is just a teaser, so I didn't expect much from it. That's a good thing since it doesn't have much to offer.

What does one movie have to do with the other?

When the producer of one is the director of the other, they have a lot to do with each other. While I didn't hate Cloverfield it definitely did little to alleviate my fears that Abrams could turn this Trek film into a wreck film. Time will tell, however,

End Transmission.

Bark. I have the same problem with my work.... I found a workaround. Your IT might have figured it out, though.

My work is so fascist, not only are the proxy servers blocked, but web mail sites are blocked too.

I'm sure once word gets out, they'll block that, too. We used to get around it if we dropped the www off the youtube address.

It's not that my work is fascist, but at a billion dollar in sales you'd think our IT could manage bandwith a bit better than just putting a packeteer on the pipeline and killing all sites like myspace, youtube, and other distractions.

Well I really got a kick out of seeing the Enterprise "under construction," and I liked Cloverfield. :smirk:

So as far as I'm concerned, all systems are go for this one.

Also, people have commented unfavourably about the idea of a starship being built on the surface of the Earth. Good point, but it is in keeping with Trek canon.

So that is a good sign in and of itself.

Exactly. I'm a huge Trek fan and would have seen Cloverfield just to see the teaser. But Cloverfield turns out to be a darn good film in it's own right. Gonna be a good year for Bad Robot.

I actually smiled when they showed the Enterprise under construction. I didn't know what the preview was until I saw the name on the ship.

Little tidbit for you all: apparently if you go to the www.paramount.com/startrek, where they have the trailer, there is a red dot near the bottom of the credits. Click the little red button, and you are taken to www.ncc-1701.com.

As part of the viral marketing for this, you see four live, though staticky video feeds of the "construction," one of which briefly gives us a glimpse of the new corridors.

It's not much but I thought I would pass it on, if you haven't seen it yet.

This could be a real gem of a Star Trek movie, perhaps the best since TMP.
