Long time reader - first time poster.
I am mostly posting to find out if mania.com got bought. I have been noticing these cracked.com post, taking content from that website. seems to be like a bit of selling out considering that site is owned by a major corporation, unless its to kiss ass because they got bought? cracked.com has nothing to do with mania and i hope mania never becomes a cracked...though this article is pretty funny http://www.cracked.com/article_15813_5-most-ill-conceived-action-figures.html
anyone here know? I love this site so I hope they never go corporate. compromising editorial and site would suck.

Not sure what you mean by describing "going corporate" as a bad thing. In a lot of cases, it means more opportunity, more writers & content and a brighter future. I can tell you that Mania isn't owned by Cracked and Cracked isn't owned by Mania..I still report to the same man I've been reporting to...
And by the way, I'm the news editor and content manager for Mania. I will never be compromised (not even by Jakester) and I know the owner would never ask me to be. At least not in the way you describe..not like say..Gamespot.

Please. The same "man". Why are you still trying to hide it? We all know the terrible trifecta who really runs Mania these days...

 Not only does my minion return here out of the blue, but he maketh Jarrod laugh again. Enough so that liquid coca-cola has graced his keyboard. Damn you.
And shouldn't that be a pic of the Emperor there..I would be Darth Vader, the person who walks around and enforces..while he's the one planning evil deeds in his throne room?

No Coke. Pepsi.
I miss the first Crystal Pepsi, but not the second incarnation.

Cheeburger Cheeburger.
I miss the first Crystal Pepsi, but not the second incarnation.
I liked it better when it was called Teem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teem)
Actually, the first Crystal Pepsi wasn't citris flavored. The second incarnation was. The first CP tasted like Pepsi, but it was . . . lighter. It didn't have the heavy corn syrup.

And in classic Mania standard, another thread goes wildly off the track :)

Well, in fairness, I did address his concerns before it derailed. If he/she still isn't satisfied or believes me, I can't do much else other than say again that I won't sell myself out like a cheap one-legged midget hooker.
And...COKE, not Pepsi. My older sister is an executive for Pepsi Co..ie. Fritolay...and I have to listen to her while at home constantly advertising their products..which is funny at times. I'm like "Sis, you're not getting paid to advertise them HERE in the living room!"
And btw, they're both a bit ruthless. Pepsi Co. employees can't eat or drink any "coke" products at their work..and Coke Co. employees can't do the same at their work...I guess it's understandable but come on, it seems a bit nuts. If I worked at Coca Cola and wanted to eat Taco Bell at work, I wouldn't want to get bitchslapped for it. Sheesh.

Heh heh ... try working in Detroit and driving anything but American. 14 years ago my husband began working for GM after having a job outside the industry. Since his dad had worked for Ford, he drove a Ford to work at GM. I think that lasted for three months, until he qualified for the GM employee discount. Good thing he didn't drive a Japanese car--he could've ended up vandalized.

The Official Soft Drink of Penn State is Pepsi, so you can only et Pepsi products at the vending machines, etc, and I believe you are discouraged from drinking non-Pepsi products if you go to an official function or hold one (for the alumni groups, interest groups).
Growing up, I liked Pepsi better. It's fizzier. However, I'm a Coca-cola guy now. It's sweeter and smoother. It also mixes better. Coke and Goslings is fantastic.
As far as cars go, I had two Chevys. Both were crap. (Sorry Negs' husband, but they were.) After those two, I went to a Honda. I get great fuel mileage for a non-hybrid, and with regular servicing, I haven't had a reason to complain about it's quality. The only complaint I have is that the seats have no "memory". If I move them to access the back seat of my two-door coupe, they default back to the factory settings. I have to readjust them. That's pretty minor though.

I worked at Coke a couple of years ago. It’s amazing how serious they are about “brand loyalty”. Just give me my paycheck.
But their cafeteria had the best deserts. Between the deserts and free sodas, I probably gained 10 pounds working there.

It gets mighty hot workin' in them there deserts, which is why I 'spect the sodas were free.
I wish I could quit you, Jake. :D

Oops. I meant desserts, much more tasty than a desert.
Of course a desert has fewer calories.

Well, if you're going to go with a cheap Chevy, yes, they were not always the best. Expensive Chevys, like Corvettes or superduper pickups, or Buicks or Caddys used to be the way to go. Nowadays they're doing much better with smaller Chevys, like the Malibu or the HHR, which Mr. Neglet currently rocks. Although technically, I think those are assembled in Canada and Mexico, respectively. :headscratch:
Mine was a Cavalier, then a Malibu. Now, I'm in a Civic. Quite frankly, GM's use of Dex-Cool coolant in the late 1990s and early 2000s is what turned me off from them completely. I'll never go back after that. 5 years/500,000 miles my ass. My one car didn't even make it to 35,000.

Oh, a Cadavalier, no wonder you were put off. :p
Actually, the Malibu was the one with the Dex-cool problem. I drove that Cavy into the 130,000 mile range. Of course, it required extensive repairs at times to do that.

I owned a Chevy Sprint, basically a rebadged Suzuki with a 1 liter 3 cylinder 47hp engine. That car couldn't hit the speed limit unless it was dropped off a mountain. Add in the fact I had several hundred pounds of audio equipment and it was definitely all show, no go. :)

lol I forgot all about what the Big 3 NA car company employees must think about. I'm curious, did they have an actual question on their screening tests about "Which car do you own?" Negs?

No screening tests. But once you start working for a company, it usually doesn't take long to start driving a company product ... they make it easier with the employee discount and other such programs. And if you're a blue-collar worker, I think it's even more essential to eventually change. I remember stories back in the 80s of major damage done to Japanese cars parked in factory lots. (Or even not in factory lots. Workers got really pissed when all those layoffs started. Now it's just a fact of life, I guess.)

GD, you really threw me off with the whole hate Jew thing..Were you toasted last night or something?
Ahh, Negs. Surprised there isn't a question somewhere but they're probably afraid of it getting out as bad PR. I remember those vandalism reports too and I guess it was understandable that people would be frustrated at getting laid off back then but it always did seem a bit wrong that the jerkoffs who vandalized the cars weren't realizing that they were hurting their own employees in the equation. Amazing how small-minded some people can be at times like that. "Hey look, I'm mad about the layoffs..so let's go damage my own co-worker's car who also is probably frustrated as well!"
