It's been a year since Yahoo initially rebuffed Microsoft's offer and the chairman who rejected that offer is no longer there due to a downward slide while Google takes more control..
Will this new offer make a difference?

MS executives wouldn't comment on whether they would keep the "Yahoo" brandname if the bid was taken this time around.

I assume this type of bid would have to have Congressional approval which should be interesting to see. I don't know though. Microsoft is starting to come off as something like a little dog nipping at Google heals now. Ever year I hear about some grand new venture from Microsoft that either goes no where - Live Search or is an embarrassment - Vista.
I can see Microsoft's aim (no instant message puns please) in wanting to take the ailing Yahoo and add it's assets and infrastructure to their own, but honestly, I see it failing. There is a reason Yahoo is still trailing Google. What exactly does Microsoft think they are going to be able to do to change that?

MSN Yahoo. I can see it. It's not like they are breaking any new ground there.

Mr. Softy's quest for world domination takes a tera step. Resistance is futile. N:(

Actually, Google is the one with world domination on the mind lately..MS is just trying to keep up..or at least stay status quo.
