Just joined this a few days ago, and I think I'm probably gonna be pretty hooked. Does anyone else here use this service? Any pros and sons? I also noticed you can create a friends list, thought it might be interesting to see other peoples' movies choices.

We have been using them for years.

We get three at a time. I would not rent movies any other way. Right now we are watching season four or five of 24.

I also like the watch instantly. It gives us a third t.v. if we need it. I like to watch the Law and Order SVU.

I like Neflix alot. I am on the 1 disc at a time plan, and I am terrible about watching and returning movies.

I believe I am Omicron on NetFlix if you want to add me to your friends list. Just don't laugh at my selections. :smirk:

We've had Netflix for about 3 years, I actually just dropped it down to 1 movie at a time last week. We were getting 2 new movies every week for a good long time, but in the last year no one has had time for the DVD's much anymore. I realized the other day that I've had the same 2 disks for like 3 months, one of which I still haven't watched.

The only real con's I can point out are - they DON'T want you to rent a lot of movies. In fact, if you do show a pattern of renting and returning the disks regularly like we did, you start noticing your #1 choice is suddenly on a short wait and new releases take longer to become available to you when they first hit.

The other thing is...at least for us, it started seeming like there's nothing to watch.....ya know? I'm not the type that wants to go back and rent stuff we've already seen, we rent the new releases. After a while, I kind of got caught up with what I'd wanted to see.

Oh, and they don't advertize new releases either. You have to dig for them.

Never noticed the friend thing before - what the hell here ya go!

Me too.

I primarily use it for Anime and some new releases. I love the Instant viewing, but it still leaves a bit to be desired(No Subtitiles in the foriegn films).

Anime is the main reason that we still have NetFlix. My kid is addicted. We used to get three at a time/unlimited, but now we've dropped it to one at a time. We just don't have as much time to watch movies this time of year. I do use the "Red Box" at the grocery store every now and then. New movies, $1 for 1 day.

Cool, thanks guys. I've already gotten my first two (starting out with the Ah! My Goddess anime series) and already through with and sending back the first one. I've got a ton of J-Horror in my queue mainly because I can't find them to rent around here and I don't wanna buy them if they suck.

The one thing I'm not really happy about so far is the fact that I've rated like 1000 movies, but they can only come up with 250 films out of 90,000 to suggest for me? That's crap.

Oh, and I'm Epic Bebop on there.

I got Netflix as part of my film history class. Started out as a free trial for 2 weeks then I decided to keep it. I only get one movie at a time but umlimited for the month. So far, all of the movies have returned to Netflix except one. The Simpsons movie got lost in the mail *supposedly* someone in the post office could have taken it as far as I know.

Has anyone else ever had a lost dvd either going back to Netflix or coming to your home?

Yeah I have had a total of 3 lost discs in 3 years. An every time I get some smart ass response from them saying "If there is an excessive number of lost discs on your account it may be suspended."

It is so cool to see what you all have in your que. It would make it easier if you all ued your Mania name. I changed ours to say "rappites"

You know, I really wish that in that 5-star rating system they had a "meh" rating. You know, didn't hate it, but wasn't particualarly impressed by it. Right now it just goes from "Liked It" to "Didn't Like It," but a lot of movies for me fall into that "meh" category.

Oh, and how come the dvd in my number spot says it's available now, but they skipped it and shipped the number two dvd, and can't ship the first one till tomorrow. That doesn't make any sense.

depends. If its not available at the nearest one to you, they'll ship it from another facillity.

Mine's near Philly, but I've had to get at least one shipped from the midwest or west coast.

I'm done with all the Adam Sandler movies.

I promise I won't do that again.

Judge me not...

I'm enjoying Netflix so far, I'm already on my 6th or 7th DVD.

I think I'm being pigeon-holed by them though. I've rated like 1500 movies, only a few of them having gay themes (Hedwig, Priscilla, But I'm a Cheerleader), but apparently only based on those few they've decided that every other movie they suggest for me (down to 145 suggestions) has to be some gay flick. Now, I am gay, but c'mon, there's like 90,000+ titles on there, why the stereotyping? I'm actually not into romantic comedies, but apparently that 's all they think I like! Aarrgh!
