View Full Version : Haunted!

So today I had the grave misfortune to drive around a hell of a lot, and in my travels, I passed my old efficiency apartment. My friends & I still refer to it as "the haunted apartment", "that *&%$&%# haunted-ass place RK lived in" or simply, "The Haunted".
Everyone hated the vibes there, and everyone agrees it was haunted. Mr. Karma lived there with me for about a month and after a particularly nasty night with the malevolent presence there, he insisted we find new digs. I was there less than a year.
I've officially lived in about 20 different places, but I have never experienced the total haunted pacakage that place was delivering before or since: turning on the pull chain light in the middle of the night, moving my favorite bracelet from room to room, unlocking my front door, freezing cold inside despite the weather outside. And that malevolent presence? Trust me, it was evil whatever it was. Or it wanted attention so bad it had turned to evil.
Sure, it's not Halloween, but I can't wait. What's your spooky story?
Ever see a ghost? Mess around in a graveyard? Experience a malevolent presence?

When I lived up in Alaska I used to live in this shitty apt. with my mom and brother and when we were moving lights would turn on and off. AND when I was alone in the room a fucking pillow FLEW off the stack of boxes back onto the mattress. Yea,I screamed like a little girl!! That shit was freaky!

I have never had any personal experiences but I have friends that are semi-professional ghost hunters and busters up in Chico, CA.
All these cases, I believe...
plus RK and GD... go on youtube an look up the word "poltergeist" or "Paranormal" there are some really great clips up there.
apparantly theres a british show like Ghosthunters where they were performing some cleansing ritual... watch the clip when one of the men climbs up into the attic above the kitchen, at first everything is normal then everything quickly goes straight to hell... the crew was pulling him out of the ceiling crawlspace by the legs and he was flailing and screaming...when they pulled him all the way out he had been strangled by an electrical cord that wrapped around his neck by itself!!!!

I never had a paranormal/supernatural experience per se, but I'm very opened to strange coincidences and witnessed many of them in my life. But I guess it wasn't what you meant, then I answered no.

I've had a bunch over the course of my life, none in the past say....10 years or so.
The last time was actually validated by Mrs K which is pretty cool. When she was pregnant with my first son, we were living in an old brownstone building. I always felt a presence in the bathroom - whenever I would be looking in the mirror, specifically. What was cool was I could discern that it was a female presence, I used to get this image of a woman dressed in 1920's / 30's clothing with one of those Barret type hats women wore. She would always seem to be in the mirror - not visible, but present.
So one night just a few weeks before Spencer was born I heard a noise somewhere in the apartment and got up to check it out. While I was gone Mrs rolled back over to go back to sleep. She had rolled over to go back to sleep and had been thinking about how rough things were for us financially, it was out first child and we were broke, didn't have any money for a car-seat, so on.
While she lay there thinking and worrying, she felt a hand on her shoulder and a woman's voice in her head whispered that everything would be okay, not to worry. Of course there was no one there, I was out of the room at the time.
3 days later we unexpectedly recieved a security deposit from a former apartment, which never happens.

I am convinced that my grandmother visits me here. Every once in a while I smell a combination of methol cigarette smoke and lemon Pledge in the hallway. Smells just like my grandmother. I think she comes to visit every now and then. About a year ago I started smelling a man's cologne that I can't place. I don't know who that is, but they never really do anything, just smell up the place.

When I was younger, I lived across the alley from my grandparents. My grandfather died in the house. My grandmother continued to live there. She would work, and had her lights on a timer so there would be lights on in the house after dark.
My younger brother was sitting on her porch playing with some friends, and saw the light click on. He glanced in the house, and swears he saw grandpa sitting in his favorite chair in the living room. When he looked back the chair was empty.
I lived in the house by myself for a couple of month my senior year, after my grandmother died, and I had no strange encounters in the house. But I wasn't as close to them as my brother was.

I've never really believed in ghosts, but for about the last three years I lived at home, I always felt like there was something following me around after dark, especially after my parents went to bed and the house was appropriately dark and deserted. It was a mix between the feeling when you suddenly realize you're standing right next to someone and you didn't know it and the feeling you get when someone's staring at you really hard. Not fun. I ended up on the internet as much as I am now because sitting in the living room watching TV freaked me out, so I'd go to my room with my computer and sit in the corner where I could see all the entrances.
I don't know, adolescence is such a freaky time that I think paranoia would just be the perfect touch, don't you?

No...I was astral projecting to stalk you.

Omi's story reminded me I did see something once at my grandparents' house.
They lived in an old Victorian house, where the master bedroom connected to a second bedroom by a tiny turret room - a perfect room for a nursery in the days when most families were not nuclear. The room's windows were set up high and it was very small, too small for a bed, so nobody slept in there and my grandparents used it for storage. There was a party at the house and my family and my great aunt were staying over. She was sleeping in the regular bedroom, my grandparents were in the master, and I was sleeping on the floor in the turret room.
I woke up in the middle of the night to find a strange dark haired lady bending over me. She had her hair worn up, and was wearing a high waisted, short sleeved dress. I was very scared because I didn't recognize her, and even more scared when I realized I could see my great aunt sleeping in her bed, behind and through this strange lady.
I pulled the covers over my head until I finally got the courage to peek out again.
The lady was gone.
I immediately got up and went into my grandparents' room and spent the rest of the night sleeping on the floor next to my grandma's bed.
Maybe the dark haired lady was just checking on me. I was probably the first to sleep in there since the 1930's.
I went into that room several times when I was older, but never saw anything again, though whenever I slept in the adjoining bedroom, I always made sure that turret room door was firmly shut.

My high school has been haunted since like the 50's (the main building has been there since the 20's). When I was in high school, I was usually involved in stuff that kept me there pretty late at night, and I had several creepy freaking experiences, including:
- I was walking down the main hall alone at night with most of the lights off, and I saw this weird blue light under a door I passed. When I looked back, it was gone, and there are no lights outside the room that could create it, and no one was in the room.
- My mom, who was a teacher there, had to go get some stuff from the school she had forgotten, and I tagged along. I went to go get something out of a vending machine, and when I was walking back to her room, I heard footsteps in the hall behind me. I figured it was the secretary, who was the only other person there, but when I got back to my mom's room, they were both there!
I'm not the only one, either. People who are there late at night often have something happen, most often the coaches. Several times the baskteball coach was working late and heard noises in the gym, and came out to find the ball cages (which had been locked) open and the basketballs bouncing all over the gym. Other times they've heard whispering in the hall but no one was there when they went to check, and there was no time or place for anyone to hide. That school is just freaking creepy!
